Out of all the 84 autobot cars. Which one is the most popular and the most expensive to get either loose or complete.
Way back when I got mine (10 years ago), Bluestreak was the hardest to come by and most expensive. I'm really not sure now though. -G
Do you mean in real life? Because if so,I would say Optimus prime since he is a truck. If in toys,I don't know.
I think Sunstreaker and Wheeljack, they don't seem to be able to remake them and they both have small parts which are lost. Also the feet are metal on both which makes an unchipped minty one rare. Wheeljack is white so he can turn yellow over time from sun and age.
Wheeljack, Sunstreaker, Trailbreaker, Jazz. Hound can also be expensive since he has alot of parts. And yes, he's my favourite
When it comes to common G1 figures, the G1 cars are the most common. You can still find a lot of the still sealed. About 11-10 years ago, they were the most sought after of Transformers. But, with reissues of every mold minus Wheeljack,Sunstreaker, and Mirage, the prices have fallen.
My vote is for Bluestreak. Whether it's because he really is a rare find due to a low production run, or the (mostly unproven) legend that there's supposedly a Diaclone blue version out there, I've seen him listed time and time again as the most expensive.
Speaking from personal experience: Wheeljack. Bear in mind, my collection includes reissues so I've been able to add guys like Jazz/Trailbreaker/Blustreak/Sideswipe without too many problems. At TFCon this past weekend, complete decent condition Wheeljacks were going for between $120-$140. <sigh> Guess, I'll either have to wait a bit longer or one day just bite the bullet.
How about the rarest and nicest Wheeljack of them all! Diaclone Marlboro Wheeljack. He can hurt your wallet for months lol.
Wheeljack by quite a long stretch. His accessories are unique. IIRC, there's at least two versions of his spoilers, making it harder to complete. His missles are tiny, and there's four of them. Overall production may be a little lower, as he wasn't released in some international markets until 1985... although this may be offset a little by the European reisuse from 1990 (or 1991? - can't remember) The lack of a more recent reissue also adds to the impression of rarity, although of course for the picky collector there are often significant differences between originals and reissues. ....and yeah, back in the old days people were paying large amounts of money for Autobot cars, even ones with busted windows. There's a LONG held belief that Bluestreak is somehow amongst the rarer of more valuable Autobot cars, and i don't know where it comes from. One might argue that belief comes from the fact that Smokescreen and Prowl were reissued in their original colors, whilst Bluestreak wasn't, but the perception of rarity predates TRU and TFC reissues. Evidence, at least that i'm aware of, suggests he's at least as common as the other two Datsuns's and there are of course shared accessories as well. In fact in some international markets, he was more common than Prowl and Smokescreen back in the day. In the UK they were held back til 85 whilst Bluestreak was released in 1984. IIRC, in 1986, Bluestreak was re-released whilst Prowl was cut (obvious reasons?)... although i think Smokescreen was re-released.
I disagree with Bluestreak - I see him reasonably priced quite often. Trailbreaker and Wheeljack are the ones I always see with prices off the scale. I guess because they've had the least number of reissues/updated versions.
Wheeljack is going for that much? Good thing I picked up a complete one several years ago for $40. I had no idea he went up that much.
It's all about parts and condition. Wheeljack has 2 small wings, 2 small spoiler parts, 2 launchers and small rockets. Not to mention a white figure with alot of stickers to wear and peal. For a picky collector like me he is a tuff one to get. I lucked out on a really nice Wheeljack in a Ebay lot for less than $40 but I need the parts now. There are repro parts out there, thats prob what I will do for mine.
Wheeljack and Sunstreaker usually top the list, though Wheeljack got KO'd last year and the price has gone down a little bit. I don't where you guys are seeing high-priced Bluestreaks because I always see him on-par with Prowl for the most part. Though, there seems to be a shortage of Smokescreens nowadays. For some reason he's harder to find and gets bid up quite a bit on Ebay lately. Even his reissues seem to fetch quite a bit of cash.
Wheeljack is the most expensive from what I've seen lately.....as many have probably said on here already, its likely because they haven't done an official reissue and the KO kind of sucks. I somehow remember Smokescreen being one of the most expensive/popular way back when (before they started doing reissues).
Mirage has been the hardest one for me to get complete. There has'nt been a reissue. and do to the ambitious rotate at the waist transformation. That Tends to be broken at the waist a lot. and the rocket launcher is one of those known for breaking at the shoulder tabs. Despite these problems. You can't deny that mirage is a great toy, a complex character and one of the most unique of the diaclone molds used in the Autobot team.
Mine did come with all his parts. He's a little worn but good shape otherwise. Makes sense though. Hound I imagine would be in the same boat for the same reason.
