So I'm considering purchasing a G1 reissue Astrotrain but the ones I've seen listed online (both TRU and Takara reissues) appear to be in black and white rather than the black, grey, and purple of the original's colors.
Are all of the G1 Astrotrain reissues now in the black and white colors?
    Thanks.

Yes all reissues are white. if you want the anime accurate Astrotrain then be prepaierd to pay around 300 for a MISB one, it was a ehobby exclusiv.

    Wow.
Thanks for the info; looks like I'll be getting the black and white version!

Yeah, they never reissued him in the original toy colors. The E-hobby one is cartoon color accurate, not G1 toy color accurate.

The reissue is the same color as Takara's original Astrotrain. I always thought they should have recolored the US reissue in Hasbro vintage colors, even though I have a Hasbro vintage from childhood.

Which reminds me, I have to take apart and nail polish up one of his legs. It collapses under his weight.

You can buy an original complete one for about 20-30$ if you don't mind him loose

Listen to G1-Junkie; get a loose/complete one for way less than the reissue!

If you are just looking for a really good representation of the character, get the Henkei version.

had a real jpn. white astro/nasa mib. damn it was nice. but that thing seems hard as hell to find, and harder to find with no yellowing.

Mine is an original Hasbro version, lovingly restored. Unless I get him is exactly the right position, he will also get knee-knocked under his own weight. I like the original Hasbro version better, but the White + Black version is very cool also. I dont think you can go wrong with either, really.

    Some minor nitpicks:

The Hasbro reissue was exclusive to Hasbro Toy Shop, not TRU (because TRU had canned the line by that point).

The vintage Takara release was originally in Hasbro colors. The black and white version was a running change.

I picked up the Reissue Astro train at K-Mart a couple of years ago ($14-00 Au from memory) and am very happy with it. While the Colours aren't cartoon acurate, I think they look more realistic.

I have all 3 versions. My original with box when I was a kid, Hasbro reissue, and E-hobby. Now between the Takara and Hasbro reissue are there any differences on the figure or weapon?

I actually prefer the reissue colors myself. The white in the robot mode is very clean looking. But to each their own.

Old thread, I know, but does anybody know how the grey Astrotrain KO (pictured above) compares to the grey e-hobby version? I'd really like to add a grey version to my collection, but the price on the e-hobby version has gotten a bit out of hand as of late. I've found the grey KO version on Ebay for $120 recently, but even that seems kind of steep for a KO, and prefer not to have KO's. Any other suggestions for sourcing this fine figure for a reasonable price?

I don't have that KO but I do have Sunstreaker and Mirage, and they're really damn good for KOs. Most of the G1 KOs are pretty high quality (though G1 Prime is getting kinda bad with mold re-use)

Side note: I see a few of that KO closer to $60 than $120, so maybe expand your search parameters? I just searched "reissue astrotrain" and he's there along with a ton of white legit reissues.

The toy above your post is actually an ehobby astrotrain in a custom G1 box I made. The KO is of the original US toy.

There is an ehobby KO now as well. I keep seeing them show up on eBay from Chinese sellers.
