Hey, gang, Just received test prints of the kreon-scaled weapons that I've been tinkering with in the Fan Art forums. I plan to post pictures of the guns with their respective owners soon, but feel free to guess whom they might belong to in the meantime. Since they use 3mm handles, they should also work for Cyberverse figures. And if any of those items look like they might be handy for a figure with 5mm peg holes, feel free to send me a PM and I can upscale it (and maybe try to add some more detail).
I think... they all belong to AOE Hound. He can always use more guns! They look great though, whomever they end up being for. =)
That's pretty cool... though I gotta admit I wish they had more clipable posts on them -- the rear knobs, the gunbarrels, etc.
I'll have to try to rig some kind of backpack so he can carry them all at once. That would be easy to add if it was something you needed. I was mainly trying to give characters their G1-specific weapons, only in streamlined, cartoony, kreon-ified style. But a modification like a c-clip is easy, so anyone who would need that should feel free to PM and make the request! Just let me know exactly where you'd want the clip.
Neat. I'm mostly talking theoretically -- playing with my custom Kreons has desperately made me want the Kre-O guns to be more customiseable with more clippable parts. --Andrew S.
Here's Cyclonus, sporting his cartoon-based blaster: That's a totally doable thing. It seems like kre-o has been toying with that idea on their bazooka weapon, and, to an extent, by using winches as handle extenders and putting nozzles on the machine guns.
Here we have Sunstorm, sporting the latest in retro-stylish air-to-air missiles... All of the kreon seekers (and a lot of the non-seekers) use the same clip-on null-ray cannons, but I wanted an option to have something that looked like the 80s missile launcher with the warhead attachment plugged in. (I should kitbash a back-pack rig so they can double as shoulder missiles...)
Any recommendations on a chrome paint to use on little pieces like this? I was skittish about getting spray paint because they are so small. I figured there might be an acrylic to apply by hand, but I have no idea what I'm doing. Thoughts? Oh, and here's another close up of a satisfied Kreon:
Been testing metallic finishes for a few things I'm working on and found the bests to be a toss up between krylon color master and rustoleum metallic finish. With the rustoleum having better color. Those look like they're printed in wsf though? I've never gotten a good finish off that material, let alone a metallic one.
Thanks for the tips! The parts are in Shapeways' wsf, so they do have the rough texture to the surface. If the metallic color just adheres to the plastic, that will be good enough for my purposes. I'm not expecting them to pass as coming out of a mold when I'm done with them.
I'd try starting with the krylon then. Its acts as a primer as well and seems to bond better if the piece isn't designed for paint. Could only get the rustoleum to bond with either primer or preping the molds with talc.
Because we all were thinking that the one thing Scourge really needed to look more accurate was his original toy weapon...(or not.) Roger that. Simpler seems wiser for me at this stage.
If you squint, you can kind of delude yourself into thinking that kreon Bulkhead is really Cybertronian Hound...and that this gun actually belongs to him...
