I should note, under most other contexts,
I'm not sure Cobra-La really jives with G.I.Joe. Larry Hama didn't like them and actively refused to use Cobra-La in his works. And that's perfectly fair, because Cobra-La doesn't fit into Hama's vision of what G.I.Joe is, which is generally more grounded than the Sunbow cartoon and contemporary franchises like Transformers.

But the Energon Universe has gone out of it's way to establish these properties in the same continuity from the beginning. It isn't like the haphazard mashing of different settings altogether that IDW's Hasbroverse was.

With this context, I think Cobra-La works. In a universe where the Transformers and other aliens exist, Cobra-La looks far more reasonable alongside the sci-fi wackiness that is already present. I think there's room for both grounded G.I.Joe stories, and the sillier elements from the Sunbow series. Although I suppose, not being a G.I.Joe fan in the first place, it's not that big a deal to me?

The chainsaw death wasn't as surprising as what happened to the other guy.

Caught up on the first two Duke issues, i like it but not as much as i did Cobra Commander #1. I’ll continue to read this along with ARAH.Funny since I didn’t care for IDW Joeverse books.

The IDW Joeverse were really all over the place. Only series I liked was the Cobra book featuring Chuckles. I think they were trying to figure out how to be different and distinct from the Hama book, but couldn't figure out what to do, which is why they had multiple relaunches with different takes/continuity.

Today's issue of Cobra Commander was pretty solid! It didn't feel like it went anywhere which is unfortunate but it does establish a few characters we knew were coming.

I will say I love the cover on the issue I bought. I've been going after the mural sets for this and TF and this one doesn't disappoint!

I’m guessing these are replacing the Duke and CC minis. I’ve enjoyed them so far, and I was never a big G.I. Joe fan… so keep the quality coming!
