I though they were going to do a full on reboot? Now they're making another semi-reboot to keep Dwayne Johnson around. Look, Paramount, if he didn't bring life to the franchise the first time... he isn't going to help your second go at a "soft" reboot.

Yeah, I really don't want those first two live-action films to be a part of Hasbro's potential "cinematic universe". A clean slate has more potential than starting off it's second film ever with the death of a major character as big as Duke.

If they call it GI Joe Special Mission Snake Eyes I'm in. Special Missions would be a way to do stories with a scaled back cast and still have those big adventures for the main GI Joe films. It worked well enough that they have brought the Special Missions concept back to the comic books.

They'll probably just go with G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes or G.I. Joe Legends: Snake Eyes. I think they should just do a start origin story that reboots the movie franchise and sets up later sequels.

The silent issue? Not much of a story to base a movie on. Rescues Scarlet from a castle without anyone saying anything to each other.

It’s gold. Do it like A Quiet Place. I would rather that than another origin story. Although SnakeEyes origin story is better than most.

If they throw in a scene where he is living in seclusion in a cabin I will be happy.

I think they could do a mixture of things, like SE is living in the mountains with his wolf, Timber, and is recruited to rescues Scarlet from a Cobra stronghold while flashbacking too his origin.

The only problem with the silent issue is that the story is too short for a feature length film. If you start padding out the run time would the story still feel the same?

They could just length the action scenes, like in the Raid films and use the flashbacks to answer the audience questions; who is Snake Eyes and why is he a Ninja?

Could we blame the writers strike between 2007-2008 for the rise of cobra poor perfomance ?

I'm pretty sure that movie was bad in all of it's forms, writer's strike or not.

The futuristic looking wasn't the problem but the plot itself was the major problem.
