So I heard the sets will also be available at Gencon and Pax Unplugged... which is nice because I'm going to Pax myself. Anyone else hear anything about the sets being there?

From my understanding and I’ll try to confirm at Pastimes, Soundwave/Blaster will be at GenCon but the Omnibots were only SDCC

I can't say for sure if these informations are true or not... but on Facebook several people asked about the availabilty for the G1 Blaster vs. Soundwave set on other conventions, especially in Europe... it will be available in other regions... WotC will reveal details soon... Sadly, nothing on the Omnibots...

If you want the omnibot set, I recommend getting a pack from ebay while you can. They are selling for ~$35 there. Last year the packs sold out extremely quickly on hasbro's website, and then they skyrocketed on ebay.

The Omnibot packs are heavily overprinted this year compared to last year's promos, so I don't think we'll see a drastic spike. Especially since there are no OP battlecards, just 3 OK characters at best. We'll see

The Omnibot pack should also be available from Hasbro Pulse in September for $15. So unless you're in a rush, it's not worth overpaying for them.

If anyone's wandering about future availability after the conventions...

I just heard from Peaugh that the Soundwave/Blaster set is going to be available at retail. However the retail versions will have different art work as the retro box art designs are convention exclusives. So you'll still be able to get the cards and use those decks just with different character art on the cards.

Yes, the retail version of the Soundwave vs Blaster set with the non-G1 art hits stores on 9/20/19.

The G1 Soundwave/Blaster set should also be available at GenCon and PAX Unplugged. The Omnibots are only available through Hasbro Pulse.

For those like myself who like to hedge their bets, you can get them on ebay now for $20 to $25 shipped. It's true that they increased production but they're still exclusive and not at the mass release amount.

If there is no plan for another kind fo released for the Omnibots, I doubt they are going to get any cheaper. If you want them, grab them now while you can get them for $25 or so.
I'm just getting into the game (just ordered the cards for a Soundwave deck) and I ordered a set. These cards have a great deal of potential and if the right upgrades come out later down the line, it could turn them in a very powerful deck.

There is another plan: Hasbro Pulse. How successful will that venue be? To be seen, but it seems a lot more hopeful than last year. I have no doubt the 2ndary market will have this go up. That's not counting all the toxic/scalping jackasses out there attempting to artificially inflate this packs' pricing.

Yup, and I think they'll be there in enough quantities for people to not worry about. Which is great for everyone, but means that they won't be 1 to 1 tradeable for the SDCC 2018 set anytime :( .

The only benefit being a premium member received was getting early access to the SDCC exclusives on September 3rd. Non-premiums like you & I had to wait until September 4th.
