I was at Target today doing some "real" shopping, and I always have to check out the toy isles (even if I am caught up on Alts right now) when I noticed that there were 3 alt Tracks just sitting there like lonely ugly puppies in a pet shop do.

It's so ironic, one of the most sought-after alts, that people were paying almost $100 for on e-bay a while back, keeping the shelf warm at my local target!

I've seen the same thing lately at my Target too, only Prowl is joining them. Meanwhile the Decepticharges are shelfwarmers at TRU.

Neat sig, btw. I have an April figure too and it's cool that she looks kinda to scale. Also April drove an blue van in the old Mirage comics so Skids is very apropriate.

I've only seen the new Alternator wave in two stores. One was 3/4s of a case (all save Skids). The other one was just Tracks. I will be highly amused if Tracks does become the next big shelf warmer (at least before the Subaru's inability to sell comes back to haunt us for another six months when Ricochet comes out).

I come across one or two Tracks left behind every now and then, but I am nothing short of amazed at how much of this Alt. wave I've seen in the last week. I've seen a full casepack, sometimes two, at least a half dozen times since last Monday.
I wouldn't say they're shelfwarmers, but I think this may just be because they've finally got something resembling good distribution. I'm just as likely to see them at WM as Target as TRU, and have indeed seen them at all three..multiple times. Eventual shelfwarmers like Swindle and Windcharger aside, new Alts. haven't been this easy to find since friggin' Smokescreen and Sideswipe.

Most of the new-wave Alts disappear pretty fast after I first see them, but Tracks is almost always the last one left. I'd assume that's because most folks who wanted Tracks bad enough have tracked one down by now (hopefully not paying far out the arse for it).

I'm just hoping the likes of Ricochet and Rollbar don't cause shelfwarming situations like we've already seen with Smokescreen, Silverstreak, and Swindle.

They've appeared at my local Wally-world and Target and they've both sold out multiple times. The same is true for the Star Wars TF's too.

Yeah I found 2 different stores that had the new cases and no one is buying the Tracks. I was very happy to get Skids and Sunstreaker.

Nah. As someone mentioned earlier, the new release uses a much duller plastic. The old one had that 'new car sparkly metal' look; the new one kinda looks like a coat of primer.

Well, that and I have two of the first release anyway. :D

Makes me wish I didn't pay $45 for the BT.

Oh wait. No it doesn't. The BT was worth it. ;)

Yeah I've found it hilarious too. Skids and Prowl are flying off the shelves here, Sunstreaker to a lesser extent, but Tracks is the one that collects dust :lol

Shelf warming is a farce, if you look at it carefully. It's pretty widely acknowledged that shelves are indeed getting warmer, but there's no scientific proof that toys are responsible for such an increase in temperature.

....Wait, what were we talking about?

The first few times i saw the new wave of Alts, all were there except Prowl. However if one is sitting on shelves, it's definately Tracks. It's either just him or all of them. I came across 5 full cases of new alts at various places.

I noticed that Tracks is usually the last to go around here too. Like Feralstorm said, the people that really wanted him got Tracks already. He won't be in the next assortment so this situation should be gone by March or so.

Of the three places that are stocking Alternators around here, each of them had a Tracks sitting on the shelf, so yeah. The collectors that are likely to buy the heck out of the Alternators either got one the first time around, or paid that 100 on eBay for one, and now don't want it.
