It's worse than gambling, it's a scam. If you have just over two hours to kill, here's probably the best explanation you'll ever get with what NFTs are and what's wrong with them: If you don't, I'll sum it up with: imagine that scam where someone sells you a certificate saying you own the Brooklyn Bridge, or maybe those websites that sell you certificates saying a star has been named after you (in both cases, of course, not holding any actual value or meaning that they claim to), except they're also acting as an investment that's supposed to increase in value (but will instead crater in value) and ALSO at their peak they all together used a whole-number percentage of the entire energy output of the planet and significantly contributed to climate change. That's what NFTs are.
I’m gonna say everything good about NFTs: They have slightly more legitimate uses than Bitcoin, in that they can replace collector’s edition DVDs if the content you’re buying is high enough quality. That is about it, though. Dumb and wasteful idea.
Life Pro Tip: Support your favorite Transformers artists instead of buying NFTs, which shouldn't be considered art. When you buy from your favorite artist, it's a nice gesture of support and you get something you can actually appreciate and that has hard work put into it. These on the other hand look like they don't have any soul, with their cold hard stares and awkward lighting. Mini-rant over.
I'm morbidly curious how well the last ones did, I suppose they must have done good enough if Hasbro seems interested in making more of them...
Time for another rare moment of the entire transformers fandom unanimously agreeing on something. That NFTS are literally the absolute worst.
The thing I hate the most about this garbage is how actual physical merchandise is locked behind it. It must suck for Pop collectors to play virtual slots for a chance to get something actually worth something.
Now hold on: we're talking about Funko Pops, which are pretty wasteful on their own as is. If the amount of them that end up rotting in landfills is anything to go by anyways.
