THAT is exactly how he should have looked in the first place dammit!!
Yeah, this is badass, man. Great work!
Looks much better
Shoah, like this, using green stuff after cutting the fingers off and shaving some of the hand away.
Dang what rattrap figure next to dinobot it looks super realistic
Wow! Just stunning.
Love what you’ve done here. The dino arms really look great.
WOW! Nice work! I'm in the process of doing the same thing with mine. I agree though, it's nice for the cost and a great figure other than the paint and design flaws which are minimal issues.
Price point and safety reasons. Paint costs more than you think, additional plastic weighs more than you think, and pointier bits are always going to be an issue for safety tests.
Looks good now though.
I'm gunna have to disagree in this case. Might have been another thing where there were too many cooks in the kitchen, where someone did an excellent design then someone else down the line had stupid ideas they added in, like having the sword tip stick out of the dino tail to be like the original figure, but very little that I did here would have impacted cost in any way. The stock raptor hands were just dumb looking. What I did isn't perfect but it shows that they definitely didn't have to look so silly. No more plastic was used and mine aren't really any sharper than claws the stock figure had. The tail covering the sword wouldn't have hurt Hasbro's bank either, especially since I made up the difference some by shortening the sword a little.
Raptor mode already had 2 colors of brown with a top and bottom pattern. I just changed the colors and pattern a bit, using very little more paint, for a more vibrant look. Extras I added that I do understand Hasbro's reasoning for excluding would be filling in the holes on the raptor legs/bot arms, and most of the bot mode paint I added, but the rest of what I did could and should have been included in what the buyer gets for their $30 with this figure.
I'm thankful for the cool figures Hasbro puts out for us to buy but I won't make excuses for them being cheap and making poor design decisions. They get paid a lot to do this stuff.
That is f***ing awesome!
I think I'm gonna ditch my BW Masterpieces and go whole hog on the Generations Beast figures.
OK, I was already rather annoyed by how Dinobot is almost perfect, yet really, really flawed. Seeing a custom this good is just making me angry at Hasbro.
Any chance of a tutorial on what parts were customized?
You need to color these texts in blue. Means irony/sarcams/etc. in here.
I didn't see it in the replies, but what paint colors did you use? If those are off-the-shelf browns, that'd make my life a lot easier.
This is fantastic! I’m honestly surprised we haven’t seen someone 3D print or a 3rd party upgrade kit for the raptor hands, since everyone seems to be in agreement that they should be better molded.
We haven't gotten/seen a 3rd party upgrade kit for him YET!
I guess it'll also contain the hunting gear he head in the show and also got realized as an upgrade kit for MP Dinobot. Maybe even laser eyes
