I had an MRI scan of my head today. It was quite awful, I was surprised by how loud the thing was. Like a giant printer. It completely drowned out the Paramore they were playing for me. At one point I couldn't breathe and was forced to hit the panic button to be released, of course I moved my head when they let me out so they had to do the scan over. I now have a massive headache from the sound and the awkward head vise they shoved me in. They didn't give me the results, but the technician sorta evaded the question, insisting I change back into my clothes. Anyone else ever had an MRI? Am I playing this up?
LOL...Well I was suppose to have a few. But honestly i never made it through any. I did have a open MRI, once.
That sounds terrible. Poor baby. When will you get the results back? That's what I would like to know...
They did. They gave me one set that played music, but after I hit the panic button they gave me normal plugs that blocked the noises more effectively. I was wearing muffs (I guess the were ear cushions) over both sets. It was still very loud.
That's weird. I've had an MRI done at least 3 times. Never had the ones that played music though. I do remember that noise being loud still. I usually tried to nap while I was in there lol.
They were black plastic tubes that were fitted with disposable earplugs with holes in the center for the tube. I guess some kind of acoustic science makes them work, since there cannot be any magnetic metal in them. Didn't look like they're was anything electronic in there.
That's gotta be a new thing. All I remember were these "foam" inserts that ya "Twisted" and then stuck in your ear. It would expand and then you couldn't hear anything except that noise from the MRI machine.
How long do you have to be in it? It really doesn't sound like the worst thing in the world, but I guess if there's a need to put a "panic button" in the thing it can't be fun.
I was in there for 45 minutes to an hour. The noise and tight space can be unsettling to some. I hit the button because I felt like something was pushing down on my torso and I couldn't get enough air. I could also feel the resonance in my hands, which creeped me out.
Music is good, but what about sticking a little TV in there & letting you watch Transformers the movie?
I had an MRI done on my ankle before I had to have surgery on it. Not too bad, though it sucked big time that I had to keep my leg held up straight for FORTY DAMN MINUTES. At least the place I had my MRI done at let me watch TV.
The last time I had an MRI I fell asleep.I had my headphones on with the music going, then it was lights out,and I didn't wake up until they were done.
