Dammit FunPub! Of all the characters you could've modernized, you pick Carzap, who most people didn't know about until you announced it! Then you give Blackrock a Kreo figure to homage that Carzap came in a building block set. Jeez, I appreciate obscure characters as much as the next guy, but this!?

Just too bad that the mold (IMO) is so terrible, yet we are getting both a Takara exclusive figure based on it and a club figure. As much as I like my classics, gonna probably pass on the Takara one as I think I have enough of this mold for now.

I wonder if the club will make the other unreleased Takara Block Town G2 Autobots like Rapid Engine (Rapido) and Hotrider (Turbofire)...

We're producing some 30 toys a year. We like to go WAY out of the box here and there. And the TFSS is the prefect spot for a character like CarZap. And he was fun to write too! (That's a hint I just dropped...)

Since you apparently don't know that Carzap comes from a proposal for a Japanese line of Block-building toys that would have come with repaints of G2 Transformers, it's understandable that you'd have preferred a Joe-style Blackrock figure.

I'd love to see a Joe-style Blackrock figure, myself.

But, as others have pointed out, Carzap does reference the block-building line, and thus the Kreon Blackrock is intended to keep the theme of that homage. To do a Joe-style Blackrock with this figure would be to miss the point.

Yes, it's obscure. Nearly as obscure as it gets. But, honestly, if this gets more people to check out the TFWiki (where one can answer most such "who is this guy?" questions quite readily), I consider it a very good thing.

I first read about CarZap back in the 90's, in Tomarts. I always told myself , if I ever get the chance to work for Hasbro or a licensee, and make Transformers toys, CarZap is going to get made!

But that's why this homage is great for the subscribers. Because the average person has no idea who this is or what it's from and wouldn't be interested in it at retail, but the more serious collectors can have an exclusive, updated, obscure character from transformers history. Plus, it helps me save money. I hope they continue this trend each year. :)

Yeah I checked the TFWiki shortly after i posted so it does make since that its kreo.

still a very odd choice for a subscription character imo but that is just me.

Definitely a pass for me. I wouldn't buy it at retail either but I've become a lot pickier with what I buy now anyway.

Of all the molds you could have used, you had to choose the crappiest.

I never thought I would get someone like Pete to respond to me.

I guess that's fair enough, since Hasbro is never going to remake these guys. And now they will get some form of a personality and story than just being another repaint.

Looks OK, but no idea who Carzap is supposed to homage. The mold is subpar, but with a new head sculpt and Takara-level paint, they could have given us a decent Deluxe Windcharger.

A character who had one fairly recent retail toy already and is already getting another this year at regular retail in a more appropriate size and much cheaper price.

That would have been a TERRIBLE use of the mold/sub spot.

-ZacWilliam, as others have said the fact that you don't know Carzap is an argument for why he's perfect for the Club to do...

Still believe its a rather cool homage...but Carzap doesn't have a place in my collection...I'll look to sell mines off asap...and I'll be waiting on the Windbreaker redeco...
