Best would be Marvel starting a reboot and name it Future Foundation. Have them already be established. Give a short explanation of why they are what they are and let them have an adventure. No origin story. I don't want to see it ever again. I just want them to experience something awesome. But make a god damn deal with Marvel. Explanation why they never showed up on one of the end of the world scenarios was, because they should have stayed secret. But something came up where they were needed. Or just the genius of Reed Richards, but their powers would also be handy. That kind of story. Maybe have Hank Pym in a few scenes and let them discuss with Tony Stark about something. But only as a cameo.
I just don't know why they bother, when they have the entire X-franchise to mine. I mean, I know they have to keep cranking them out, but bleh. Make a deal with Marvel, similar to the Spidey/Sony deal, and just let Marvel make it. That's a good idea. Skip the origin, or just show it quickly within the opening credits, and move on to something better. Does anyone really want to see mopey Ben Grimm again?
I would have them getting their powers during Infinity War. There are any amount of ways to explain it.
If Marvel ever got them back..... I would have the original FF origin, happen around the same time period, Have the operating in secret for shield against Doom around the time of Hank Pym as Ant-man. Get into a fight with Doom and time travel to modern times.
They've been stubborn for this long with F4. Think about the cancelled movie, the 05 movie series, and now this. Fox has kept their big meaty palms on this because they know if they can make a good movie with the F4, they might actually get a franchise going, and people wanting them to due an X-Men crossover finally.
Toby Kebbell Expresses FANTASTIC FOUR Frustrations; Says Josh Trank Cut A "Great" Film We'll Never See
I actually believe him. It's never going to happen though. He says whatever he wants usually. He said he didn't like being in Divergent right before they started filming the sequel to that movie, and that movie was at least more watchable than Fant4stic.
His Reed Richards was one of the best parts of the film so if a sequel ever happens I'd definitely want to see him reprise the role.
I heard a recent rumor that Feige has struck a deal with Fox (same sort of deal he has with Sony and Spider-man), but is waiting for maybe closer to the end of Phase 3 to announce the inclusion of FF in the MCU. That's very interesting, and cool if it works out. But I have to admit, I can't see too much that Fantastic Four could offer to Marvel or its Cinematic Universe, except for Doctor Doom and Galactus and the Silver Surfer: three of the best creations in Marvel Comics. Otherwise by themselves they're akin to the Avengers and X-Men: a group of uniquely talented individuals who make a dysfunctional but effective team.
They could be playing coy and have a surprise for the Infinity wars movies similar to how they used spider-man Doom if done right would give Loki a run for his money. Galactus and the Surfer means they could do Annihilation which has been on Feige's want list for awhile. This was a beyond Star Wars level cosmic epic that would be Amazing done live action(and probably cost a fortune) The new Guardians of the Galaxy were basically created in that series. People think of the FF as lame now, but for years they were Marvel's premiere title, more popular than Spidey or even the Avengers. There are a lot of good stories they could use if done right. Think of them as Marvel's team of space scientists and explorers. They don't fight crime, they go on adventures and get into trouble contacting new lifeforms and make new discoveries. Reed is a scientist first. That if done right allows for stories in directions the other movies wouldn't go in. Think of them like a version of the Robinson family from Lost in Space. Only they aren't lost. The FF aren't a team, they are a family, they have kids.
Well Disney is more of the family movies type of studio so this would give Marvel a comic book family to tinker with. I think Marvel/Disney could hit the family bits better than Fox ever could. Perhaps Marvel/Disney would have better handle on the parts of Fantastic Four that Fox considered old fashioned and hokey. Disney seems to be able to turn old fashioned and hokey into box office gold. But yes the best asset out of it would be the villains.
