yadda yadda, but here's the part that made me feel a touch old: I remember the "Who Shot Mr. Burns" debate being a classic at my school. Can't believe that was 10 years ago. Full Link
Never, The Simpsons will never die!!! And to answer the above question.....No. Gunsmoke was. But its pretty damn close, just click on the linky.
So I was six when we first saw the Tracy Ulman stuff. How soon after that did they actually do the show? That still means they've been around almost 20 years. That's definately gotta be the longest running cartoon.
Kill it! Kill it with fire!!! (yes, I do know I have a Simpsons sig at the moment, but its from back when the Simpsons were good.)
Behold, the power of clicking the article link But I think that's just in regards to fictional programs, I believe that overall, "Meet the Press" is the longest running program ever, having debuted in the late 40's.
Like I said, the Simpsons will never die. Even if in another 20 years it does get cancelled the Cartoon Network of the time will pick it up on Adult Swim. Then it will be a Zombie.
I thought it was going to keep going until 20th season then stop. It would be cool to get just that extra one after 19. Also right now (well, from last wednesday), they've been showing simpsons non-stop on fox8, and are due to finish the monster marathon this sunday. Whee! *(Oz viewers only guaranteed).
Longest continuous *animated* show, Probably. As for the calls to kill it off....... it's gotten a bit better again in the last few years. The season before last was dire, and should be stricken from history. I can see The Simpsons going on indefiantely, long after the original cast are all gone. Fox will be running it along side season 65 of 24.
Keep it rollin’! Some one has to put the uppity Gun Smoke in its place. Go for the gold and score the touch down!
