Anybody else concerned about the fire sale on Fort max's this year. Did Hasbro over produce this product and will it impact the production of Trypticon this coming summer.

Based on what I have been seeing this past month, I will not be buying Trypticon and will be taking the risk that I get Trypticon for under 100 dollars.

I thought I got a deal on Fort Max when I paid 139.

You never know because Metroplex didn't end up discounted like Fort Max.

I just wish that Legends Fort Max would go on sale so that I could get the Master Sword and a version of Cerebros with a color scheme that I feel suits the design.

Yes, risky proposition and I read somewhere on here that Trypticon is a new mold. Perhaps the demand will be there. But then again, I recall Titan Devy being a black friday sale as well last year.

i suspect most collectors skipped us retail fort max and got either the sdcc or takara version, due to the lack of master sword. (or any weapon besides his shin guns and knee tumor thing, seriously why not just give that thing a handle and cal it a handgun for fuck's sake?)

I'm going to guess they over produced him. I know tons of people who bought Max, way more than I know people with Metroplex, or even Devastator. Yet Ft Max is still on shelves everywhere.

They'll probably scale back production on Trypticon. But the question is, would Trypticon be more desirable? As a kid, I knew a ton of people who had Trypticon, myself included. Same with Metroplex. Only a few had Ft Max. Maybe the nostalgia isn't as high for him?

Compatibility may have something to do with it. Devi was a combiner, but incompatible with the rest of the combiner limbs etc, where as Fort Max is compatible with the all the other figures in TR. Perhaps Hasbro thought this would boost his sales.

Obviously Hasbro's bizarre choice of using red on his lower legs instead of his traditional grey color hurt sales badly. ;)

Metroplex was available at Costco for 60 if I recall correctly, Devastator also.

The recent sale of every retail figure has made me realize to never pay full price for a Hasbro Transformer ever again. Hasbro is flooding the market with Transformers. Gone are the days of lack of product!!!

How exactly could Trypticon not be a new mold?

OP, I feel kinda bad for paying $120 but then again it's not a full msrp and I'd rather get some discount than nothing at all. Besides what if FM became scarce like Devy n Metroplex.

As for Trypticon I suspect around the same amount as FM just to spread the cost of production due to it's a complete new mold. They would have to make enough to recoup their investment. And by making more units like FM they can afford to sell it to discount retailers and still make marginal profit.

    Ok fingers crossed! :)

The shin guns do have handles. They can pop off and be handheld.

Just hope they show Trypticon off in feb. at ny toy fair. Should be really interesting. Trypticon will problably sell better than the previous titan releases. Who wouldnt want a giant robotic dinosaur to play with!:D

Normally i'd agree with this, but Platinum Trypticon also went on sale, heavily.
