I've been re-reading all of my MTMTE Trades and have gotten to the arc where Max loses it, upset and angry over being left a POW tortured at the hands of Overlord on G9...for 3 years.

Maybe I've forgotten it and just haven't gotten to it yet, but was it ever addressed as to why it took that long for The Wreckers to be be dispatched to G9 for the rescue?

Fort Max seems like too powerful a Bot to leave and write off, especially to a Strategist like Prowl.

Just random thoughts to break up the real world work day.

he was asking why no one showed up to save fort max until now. he wasn't asking when the issue took place

 

I'm curious, have you read Last Stand of the Wreckers yet?

 

Ahh. Ok, that makes sense. At that point, saving POWs was probably last on anyone's mind with very survival in question.

In reading this again, I really felt for Max..he held it down and survived a 3 year torture session with a torturous, maniacal Phase Sixer no less.

I hope he comes back in a larger role at some point.

 

Yes, I have read it multiple times and consider it a classic. That's why I was suprised they never addressed the fact Max being left there as I always thought he was a legendary Bot amongst the ranks.

 

Yeah, remember, the Wreckers were actually sent to Garrus-9 not for a rescue mission, but just to make sure the Decepticons couldn't access Aequitas. I just re-read LSotW yesterday, and the crew were surprised that Fort Max was still alive. Prowl, being the... pragmatic fellow he is, probably wrote off anyone in The Last Resort as already dead, by the time he heard about it. They lost contact for a good long while, considered G9 good and fallen, and it was only recent intel from a DJD mole about 'con ships getting attacked in G9 airspace that made the mission happen.

Basically, Fort Max was left for dead, because everyone thought he was.

 

Right..ok that makes sense. It just sucks that poor Max was written off like that. I always thought of Max in the same manner I do Magnus..how could they just write off a solid Soldier like that? But as stated earlier, the war was on and he was considered a casualty.

Ok..I have to step back and realize we are discussing transforming robots and not humans. This is an example of how awesome the writing and character development is with this book.

Also remember, LSOTW opens up with a full-scale invasion following the betrayal of Sunstreaker. Max even yells about locking up "whoever sold us out." So to say the main Autobot forces were directionless is a bit of an understatement. As I recall, Prowl and the rest of the '84 crew spent a great deal of time moping on Cybertron during that time.

Jeez, let's hope Fort Max never finds out about that detail.

 

Prowl is one of my fav Autobots and I'm pissed off at him now LOL.

It would be awesome to see Max come face-to-face with Prowl now, knowing that Megatron has been placed in command of The Lost Light as an Autobot.

 

AHM left both sides reeling from their losses, heck it's one of the Dark Epochs that led to the (at the time believed) near extinction of the Cybertronian race- that takes a long time to recover from.

Also, LSOTW takes place between Ongoing issues #1 and #3. It even says so on the credits page of each issue/

 

All of this makes me want to see Max unleash his anger on someone even more. This is a really cool event they can revisit anytime..some sort of PTSD event when he next sees Megatron, now on the LL.

Bottom line is I really think Max is a kick ass character that should be doing more given his size, strength etc. He'd be a great Wrecker..like the anti-hero version of Magnus.

 

i get the impression fort max doesn't like to travel. he prefers to get stationed somewhere and stand guard

 

Why not? Prowl was stuck on Cybetron and the Decepticons conquered most of the galaxy, how could he have sent help?
