Starting it early this year! BBC SPORT | Motorsport | Formula 1 So, plenty of changes once again this year, biggest ones for me are: 1. No re-fuelling 2. Schumi's back!! All the new teams and the re-shuffle of drivers should be interesting too. I really wonder how Alonso is going to cope at Ferrari considering just how talented Massa is. Will we see a return of the whiny sulky little bitch he was at Mclaren?
Oh, here's the livery for the new Mercedes-Petronas car Micheal and Nico both beeming!! on TwitPic it's a repainted '09 Brawn car for now, they're not showing the '10 car just yet. Revealed: Ferrari?s 2010 colours Formula 1 Blog – BBC Top Gear And Ferrari's, no more Marlboro sponsorship it'd seem.
I can't wait for this series to get underway. MS is returning to F1 at an interesting time - teams are a lot more competitive than they used to be, there's no more Ferrari/McLaren domination, and it'll be interesting to see how he fares alongside the likes of Hamilton and Button (now he's hit his stride). Bring it.
Unless there is a Hamilton/Button/Schumi brawl on the podium I will be disappointed. Oh, and explosions. These cars aren't allowed refuels so they're going to be explosiontastic at that first turn at the Canadian Grand Prix... *Rubs hands with glee*
I can't wait for the season to start, I wouldent even want to guess the champion out of Hamilton, Alonzo, Schumacher and Vettel. No refueling is going to be LOLZ for the first few races. Aside from potential flamability, cars are going to be all over the place since nobody is used to carrying so much weight around. Great to see Canada back as well, usually equal to Monaco for sheer entertainment value.
They just put bigger tanks in the cars, no-one's ever run an F1 car with more fuel in then they had to, saves weight. They use different sized fuel tanks for every race (normally) depending on how the car handles and what strategy the team wants to go for.
One new piece of equipment this year will ignite all the fuel in the tank, upon the slightest impact with a barrier wall. This will be known as the "Bay device."
BBC Sport - F1 - Ferrari vow to return to top as they unveil new F1 car Ferrari F10 unveiled, it's red! Nice looking, but I still prefer the Sauber-Merc so far.
Should be a cracking season this year, there's a lot of potentially championship winning drivers in cars that should also be capable. I'm looking forward to seeing who runs out of fuel, someone's bound to in the first race. Has anyone had a look here, it's a novel concept: Castrol Rankings - Ranking the World's Best Drivers - Powered by AUTOSPORT.com
Because McLaren still uses Mercedes engines. Contract, it's all about the tiny letters. The "Silver Arrow" colors and nickname are from the 1930's. It was Mercedes nick and color scheme way back then. I hate to say it, but that SOB Adolf did something good. He used Mercedes and F1 for his propaganda, that's how they came into F1. That's also the reason Brawn-GP/Mercedes are in silver.
I know why they are using silver (apart from the fact theirs has been the prettiest car for a good few years), I was being sarcastic
First testing session at Valencia is done, story here > yesterday BBC Sport - F1 - Formula 1 teams begin build-up to season at Valencia today BBC Sport - F1 - Latest updates from Formula 1 testing in Valencia Also, lots of photos from the official F1 site of the test sessions. Formula 1? - The Official F1? Website I do like the new Renault colour scheme, thank god they got rid of the white and orange patch. Admittedly whichever sponsor they get may change this, but at least it's a good start. Hopefully we'll se some track time today from Campos, Virgin, USF1 and Lotus. I'd like to see how their cars shape up. Times gained from these test sessions may not be too indicative of how the cars will do against eachother in an actual race. Past test sessions usually had the test drivers being way out on top, or the smaller teams besting the big players, but this never translating into real race pace. Someone on the BBC site has already noticed that Sauber's times have been very good, but that this may be them running the car with barely any fuel in to look fast to potential sponsors, as they've not got any! Just remember when looking at test times that the cars will very likely not be on full race fuel, all depends on what the teams are actually using the test sessions to figure out.
I know. I'm really looking forward to this season. Michael Schumacher's return. Hopefully he can make a big difference in this season. It wasn't as good the last couple of years since his retirement. Probably not a good replacement in the drivers for the last couple of seasons.
He's enjoying being back in the car, he says, (and being bloody quick too, no surprises there though). I can't wait to see the first race now, should be most exciting. ****** http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/8495435.stm The Virgin car is unveiled, looks very slick. However, it's the first F1 car to be designed solely by computer, hasn't been in the wind tunnel during the design process. This could either be quite good or catastrophically bad!
I forgot to mention with all this testing and car showing malarkey that there's a new points system for F1 this year! BBC Sport - F1 - Formula 1 adopts new points system for 2010 season Now goes 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1
