'Chinatown' Prequel Series Set Up at Netflix With David Fincher, Robert Towne

Chinatown is coming back, in a bit of a surprise. David Fincher and original film co-writer Robert Towne will pen a script for a prequel series pilot for Netflix. Towne of course won the Academy Award for co-writing the original 1974 film with director Roman Polanski. Insanely quotable and a true classic, Fincher and Towne’s prequel series would focus on a young Jake Gittes, the detective played in the film by Jack Nicholson.

I have no problem if its actually better, John Carpenter's Thing comes to mind. I was thinking I wouldn't mind something in the Event Horizon story line or even a remake of "Bad day at Blackrock", but with the garbage they put out now Ill stick with the originals.

I think I’d rather see a sequel show to the movie Bonnie and Clyde.

@Tekkaman Blade Unfortunately reboots and prequels seems to be the state of things right now. Seems like companies are too scared to bank original ideas anymore and would rather work with a known property that already has some kind of following. Sometimes we get something great out of it but other times it's pretty mediocre to just downright bad. Fingers crossed that this is worth watching.
