I am selling off all of my G1 w/ the exception of a few figures. I need the cash (wife's car needs struts).

Go figure. My 94 Galant needs struts too. Is $400.00 for struts too much? :sly2:

That is for all four, right? That is a little high but not too far off, really, for all four for a Galant of that age.

Sadly, struts are usually a bit higher than shocks. I am glad that my 99 Saturn takes shocks.

Of course, struts are a total pain in the ass to install yourself - I will never do it again.

You can drive w/o them. It just isn't healthy. One of my wife's back struts (driver side) is completely out too. It sounds as if we am riding on a train whenever we take her car. We try to stick to mine.

I have been driving without them for a few months. Does this affect the brakes at all?

They don't have an effect on your brakes but they do have an effect on your stopping. Think of it this way - struts compress and uncompress when your wheel hits a bump. W/o that comtrolled compression / uncompression, your tire simply bounces like a basketball left to its own devices after such a jolt. With this happening, your car can't turn or stop as well as it should be able to.

All of this bumping can also very easily lead to bad tires as this bouncing leads to more unnecssary stress on them.

The worst case scenario is this: all of the stress on your tires and car body could lead to an axle failure = break. This is an unlikely scenario but is a possible one.

    I hope this helps. :)
