    Fluffy pancakes.

The rest are lazy but flattering imitations.

Tough call, 'cause it depends! If I'm cooking, pancakes all the way, because I hate cleaning waffle irons, and while french toast is good the extra steps and mess to battering is troublesome for a lazy sort like me.

Going out is another matter - one diner-type place in my neighborhood does damn good waffles, and my favourite cajun joint's pain perdu is fantastic.

It is a difficult question to which each must find their own answer.

The crispy, doughy, sweet, gridlike surface of za waffuru is mine.

Versus the crispy outside rings on both top and bottom parts of a fluffy pancake. The fluffiness helps absorb all the syrupy goodness. Leaving your taste buds to savour pretty much everything instead of smotherng it with syrup. :D

French toast for me. I've never had a real homemade waffle, only eggos.

French Toast with cinnamon and sugar. Topped with strawberries, strawberry syrup and whipped cream. Very delicious.

True fact of my life: for some five or six years of my childhood I was so picky that I would eat pancakes for practically every meal of the day, 24/7. Even packed them for lunch in school. Breakfast was often "Chocolate-frosted Sugar Bombs," but for dinner I had a fresh stack while everyone else at the table ate the usual home-cooked meals. Waffles were a blessing I experienced at the end of every week, cooked golden brown at the Pancake House just across the campus grounds. I used to meticulously cut my waffle into fourths and then gently pour the syrup to fill into every cell evenly. French toast on the other hand, took me some warming up to. Again, picky eater, so I approached this white bread (ugh!) dipped in beaten eggs (ewww) and milk with some caution. But upon learning they were fried 'til crisp and crunchy (mmm!) and flavored with a teaspoonful (or more) of sugar, then I was ready to welcome this new breakfast food into my life.

... well that was some nostalgia trip. And you wanted to know breakfast preference.

French toast with maple syrup and bacon* is food of the gods.

    * Proper bacon, not what passes for bacon in the US :p

I don't like any of them.

I have porridge for breakfast, topped with fruit.

Pancakes, preferably with chocolate chips or blueberries or apples in them.

Although all three get me stuffed pretty easily.
