Smaller packaging means lower costs. There seems to be a fair amount of empty space in that box and I remember Hasbro saying box sizes were determined by the biggest figures of a size class.

I wonder who else we're getting at the Voyager size?

Woah wait they don't even come with a gun? So it's just his shoulder canon? If so that's some bullshit how do you have soundwave/blaster without both?

I did indeed mean Hasbro, and I believe the Hasbro versions are the subject of the thread so no specificity was needed. :p

    (or I just forgot).

OK here we go. Sorry it took so long but I've only recently moved house so had to dig out all my WFC and FOC figures as they were still in their packaging. Felt like a kid at xmas! :D

I warn you there are a lot of images! I've never done video reviews before so figured this was the best way to share these guys.

    First up, the packaging
    [IMG]

Very nice packaging with the G1 type tech specs. They also show the minions which was a nice touch.

    Now onto the toys themselves.

Soundwave has very good articulation and has clicky knee joints.
The only downside(s) is that he is quite hollow (especially in the arms and back of his legs) and feels a bit cheap. Plus the damn blaster is missing! NERD RAAAGGGEE!!! :banghead:

    Laserbeak and Buzzsaw

The bird modes are ok. They lack any feet so are always stuck in the belly flop position. Oh and they only have one eye.

    Now for the comparisons.

    With WFC deluxe Soundwave
    [IMG]

with WFC deluxe Megatron and Optimus Prime
    [IMG]
    lets bring back Soundwave
    [IMG]

    with FOC wave 1 deluxes
    [IMG]

Soundblaster with Darkness Megatron and Optimus
    [IMG]

    And finally a group shot.

Overall I think these voyager Soundwave/Soundblaster look great but they don't really scale well with the deluxe figures. The deluxe Soundwave is better suited for that.

The hockey puck minions are ok but due to their shape they don't have very sleek designs.

Gimmicks, transformation and comparison of vehicle modes to deluxe Soundwave gallery to follow.

If your taking pic requests, could we maybe see them next to some of the other "classics" voyagers? Since they don't scale well with the FOC/WFC figures, I'd like to see how well he scales with the regular Generations figures.

Also.....a bit dissapointed that they straight up explain Soundblaster as a rebuilt Soundwave. I know that was the original explanation, but I was hoping they'd make it a new character, or at least leave it vague enough to suggest it might be.

    Oh well.

Ok so as requested I also took a whole heap of pictures showing the transformation.

I've basically shown what the instructions show so if you don't want to know how Soundwave and Laserbeak transforms don't look at the pictures. *SPOILER ALERT*

    First up Laserbeak
    [IMG]
There you have it, a Cybertronian hockey puck! He has a spring gimmick so he pops open quite easily.

Soundwave can store several pucks in his chest at once. The gimmick here is he ejects them (by pushing the shaft that sticks out of his back in) and they transform when they hit the ground.

Now for Soundwave's transformation (this reflects what is shown in the instructions)

That's it. He's transformed. In this mode you can also store Laserbeak and the eject gimmick still works.

Now for a 360 view of the vehicle

and lastly a comparison to deluxe Soundwave

Well that's it folks. Hope these pics helped you decide whether to get these guys or not. I personally like them and happy I got both but they are expensive (especially if you live in Australia! ).

    It's up now.

Sorry I'll have to do it tomorrow night. It's now 2am here and I have to get up for work in 5 hours LOL!

Just post some examples of Generations figures you want Soundwave posed next to and I'll see what i can do. I have most of the classics/generations/Prime line :thumb

Thanks! The figures look good, but I guess I will have to decide then if I get WFC Soundwave or Music Label Soundwave as my Soundwave. Probably WFC Soundwave.
