Got him out of curiosity. He is available in the local TRU here in Malaysia. I stumbled upon them by chance. Anyways, here are my first impressions:- 1) The plastic feels tacky, very cheap feeling. 2) The transformation is very simple 3) The articulation is there but feels lacking. In addition, the shoulders do not really peg into place. It just hangs there. Posing him is actually a chore. Alt mode looks okay, very Cybertronian. Transformation Split the back arms Untab all the pegs, swivel the arms around. Straighten the legs by bringing it to a full 90 degree and you are pretty much done Articulation is there, however the articulation on the legs leaves much to be desired. There is thigh and knee swivel, but hampered by additional plastic at the back of the thigh. The head is on a ball joint. Unfortunately there is NO ankle tilt, so posing him in dynamic stances can be a challange. His gun is puny compared to the RTS version of himself There is bicep swivel, but unlike the RTS version there is no double jointed elbow. So in conclusion? Compared to the RTS version, this figure feels lacking and very cheaply done in terms of plastic quality. Here is a comparison pic with RTS Jazz (a commissioned piece for a friend) But he is a good representation of Jazz in Cybertronian form. You will either like him or loathe him. Addendum - the arm/shoulder panels tab into a groove, hence making the shoulder panels solid and non-floppy. Apologies for missing this step out.
Looks fine to me. The whole size thing bums me out, but it's not the end of the world. And yes, can't wait to see more of Shockwave.
Looking at your pictures, it doesn't seem nearly as bad as I originally had thought he was. But it still doesn't scream "Jazz" to me. The RTS version just blows it out of the water, no competition what so ever. I might pick this up when it goes on discount, if it's still around. Even then, I'll probably customise him into a new character instead of Jazz. And yes, bring on Shockwave.
Didn't even know these guys were released anywhere. 0_0 Anyway, nice review. it does look a little cheap. And I support the idea of a Shockwave review.
I think he looks cool as a Cybertronian Jazz. Think I'll give him a bigger gun though. And hey, he's smaller than Shockwave. Cool beans.
Not sure why you are comparing him to the RTS version....There is NO comparison. They are two totally separate continuities..FOC and Generations (which is supposed to be a re-imagining of his G1 self). Of course RTS is going to win in every category. FOC Jazz looks great, as an in-game character representation. Those designs were probably a lot harder to make a toy out of, as the game transformation cheats so much. I have been waiting for more TF Game toys, so I welcome these greatly. Bring them on!
Reminds me of War Within figures from 6" Titanium line, simple transformation, lack of articulation, Cybertronian mode, now in plastic, smaller.
Nice! Another type of Jazz in the transformers collection....but probably only able to get him in August.....
OP, It looks like the side panels should be able to tuck in under the front wheel well to keep in place... Also, can the blue pieces on the shoulders be arranged differently? Thanks for the review.
I'm just saying that, next to the RTS version, it looks bad. I'm not putting them in the same continuity or anything and I don't know why you're saying this. Put a G1 Galvatron next to MP-10 Optimus Prime, which one is better? It's just a comparison, stating an opinion.
I wasn't referring to you...I was referring to the OP, who was comparing FOC Jazz to RTS jazz..saying that RTS is much better. I question the comparison, as they are two different types of figures. It would be like comparing an Animated Jazz to the RTS jazz. they are two different toylines, two different design schemes..and FOC would be harder to pull off, due to the "cheating" in the game's transforming...
looks terrible, imo. even just standing there he looks bad because there's obviously wheels on his chest that barely even hide. when do these things hit US shelves?
