This time this is a commission from TFW user doomboy536. We spent the good part of this past week discussing back and forth on what he would like, what molds he would like, how he would like the paint job (IE. Updated Classics or G1). He knew right away what he wanted on Flywheels, for the Jet portion he wanted a Classics Seeker, which luckily Gen Thrust is out and pretty much shelf warming now. Originally he wanted a Movie Wreckage for the tank portion, but it just won't work, no matter what I do, the Jet looks like a Jet just hanging onto the Tank, so I got a hair brained idea, and busted out my Classics deluxe Megatron, and I think he looks great. I'm gonna pitch that idea to him tomorrow and see how he likes it. None of these mods are done, this is just a rough mock-up to see how I would like them to turn out, so sit back and enjoy. I know the arms are a bit stubby right now, hell they were on the original G1 figure, but I have figured out what to do it about. EDIT 1: Added a pic of the general idea of how he will look once combined. EDIT 2: So, I've got Megatron cut in half, still have to make the shin flaps for him as well, then the connection points. I've also got to de-Seeker-fiy Thrust as well.
Oh just wait till you see how it truly turns out, the above picture was when I was first messing around with the base figures, I've now got an almost accurate G1 Flywheels now.
Overhaulimus, let me start by saying I feel like a lucky bastard right now. This is shaping up to be totally awesome, and you were spot on about the Classics Megatron, he looks brilliant. Keep me updated and keep up the great work
Absolutely man, I'm glad that you are enjoying the build process and that you are happy with the direction that it is heading.
So, I've got Megatron cut in half, still have to make the shin flaps for him as well, then the connection points. I've also got to de-Seeker-fiy Thrust as well. I've also got progress to show off for Battletrap in the next few days, if I can get a few days of free time, this two will be done and shipped off.
Like this so far. It'll be nice see the Duocons get some articulation. I always liked the characters, but thought it was an enormous pity that they were such monumental bricks, even by G1 standards.
Indeed they were, the hardest thing with these two, were the fact that I don't own the G1 figures, so all I had to go by where pics on the net, and none of them had how they combined together, so I had figure out how to do it and how to do it as close to the G1 figures, as possible. I'm trying to keep partsforming as minimal as possible, but his tank turret has to partsform, it's how it was done on the G1 figures, so with that being the only partsforming piece, so I'm good with that. I'm glad that you guys are loving it, I'm more glad(yes I know that's not proper English, but I'm a redneck lol.) that doomboy is loving my progress on them, and that's what matters the most, since they will be in his collection once done.
Actually, G1 Flywheels' turret didn't partsform; it became the lower torso and arms, with the cannon folding down onto the chest and being covered by the jet's cockpit.
Yeah. There's a nice reference of it at about 1:38 in this video: YouTube - Transformers G1 Flywheels Review Looking forward to seeing the finished custom!
So I didn't realize, that all you did was plug the jet on top of the tank and they flipped up, very lack lust transformation, the one i'm building is much more involved, it will still have the look of a jet wearing a tank for boots though.
