Can anyone answer my question? What is up with Flashing Lio Convoy? Why is he gold? What was the celebration of his limited release? I never could land myself an original Lio Convoy or a Black Lio Convoy, so I settled for the next best thing, an imported "flashing" lio convoy with an odd gold sticker on the outside.

What's that sticker even say?

 

Flash Lio Convoy was a special figure to commemorate the Beast Wars 2 Movie which aired in Japan. The sticker likely notes this fact.

Flash Lio Convoy is a super form Lio Convoy takes on by using the power of the Matrix (combined with BW Optimus Primal, who became Burning Convoy)

Frankly, I'd figure it'd be cooler to own Flash Lio Convoy over the original release if only because of the exclusive factor.

 

Really, you think so? Why is the Flashing Lio Convoy cheaper than the regular Lio Convoy?

 

Because, "exclusive" or not, it was produced in large quantities. And didn't sell.

The market's flooded with them now, it's not that popular, so they're everywhere. The normal version isn't rare, but it doesn't sit around nearly as often due to general interest in the mold, more accurate colors, etc. And with less appearing, their prices go up, but not poor Flash Lio Convoy.

 

I own all three molds. Lio Convoy increased in popularity due to BW The Ascending. The original is highly sought after because that's how he appears in the comics. In my opinion, he a superior repaint by far. It just depends on the demands of the market. For example, Nerdling created a thread about RID Scourge. It always been a great figure but the thread influenced other perceptions and desires. It increased the demand. Lio Convoy's presence in recent comics increase the demand for the figure.

 

The Ascending definitely made him more popular, but Lio Convoy has been more scarce and sometimes gone for more money than Flash Lio for years now, long before IDW's BW comics.

 

Ah, I see. Granted, Flashing Lio Convoy does look pretty cool.

 

He does... but not "pay more for him than normal Lio" cool.   At least IMO. I've got neither, but dream of saving up enough dough for a Black Lio or, dare I think it, a Galva Lio Convoy.

 

What's a Galva Lio Convoy?

 

I think he is refering to the vs. 2 pack Galvatron and Lio Convoy. It usually goes for about $100
