What is their preview KO product, is it good or bad quality?

 

i don’t collect much Gundam so I’m unaware of the 3rd party stuff out there. Sentinel isn’t my favorite company, but I like the flame toys line more than their other lines like riobot or metamor, though some of the metamor are pretty nice. Didn’t know their dancouga was KO’d. I may be wrong about a KO Tarn’s quality, but I definitely really liked Tarn, more than Drift, though Drift was more intricate. I sold both and just have Star Saber, which I might also sell, just because it doesn’t really fit with my collection anymore.

You’re right that Fewture is tops for sturdiness + quality. I’ve only dipped my toe into robot spirits and mostly have collected the SoC line.

Quality paint is where KOs suffer the most in my opinion. They don’t have anyone holding their feet to the fire to keep quality up in that regard. Stealing/cloning molds and pumping out the pieces is one thing, but the hands on work of painting is where Chinese factories slack hard without an IP holder telling them to buck up and do better. Though they have improved there in recent years as well, I've yet to see a KO paint app on a figure or statue that I thought was remotely comparable to the official product.

 

I would be down to own this especially if the price is right. One thing that keeps me away from flame toys items is simply the price is too high for me to be willing to pay.

If they can make great KOs of figures that transform they can certainly do justice to one that doesn't.

KO’ing a transforming robot doesn’t denote manufacturing skill, since you’re just lifting existing molds. The skill in making a transforming figure is in the design phase, which KOs get to largely forego except for a random adjustment here and there.

Is there a video on this? All I can find is a showzstore preorder. Always been interested in getting one but the price for the official has gone way out of hand.

 

I do have the original, but I'll bite if this one comes with improvements. Altough mine is got no problem thus far.

 

Cool, I missed the original. It’s such a great, actually menacing Tarn. Flame Toys are getting a sizeable chunk of my 2020 TF money anyway so zero guilt.

I'm not going to get into all of the KOs good, KOs bad, blah blah but Sentinel's been getting a good number of products knocked off recently. I wonder what's going on?

Good question. Their Iron Giant is also getting KOed and, again, with supposed better articulation. It's like they have the files because otherwise it would be too much work for such niche products like Dancouga.

I still have some of Sentinel's first releases like the Iron-man armors. Their Gurren Lagann is still my favorite version and their Mospeada bikes are awesome (but my wallet is still hurting from those). Their other current stuff priced me out some time ago.

 

This is very interesting. I’d like to know final price before I settle on a pre-order though.

As for the Dancouga KO (unrelated to this Tarn KO factory), it was also improved, they changed the limb joints from plastic to diecast ("to cure the arthritis") and added an another sword and wings. Seems to be very favourably received by buyers in my country.
