I cancelled my order for Tarn due to seeing other collectors having qc issues with theirs. And a video I watched where the fingers still come off. Not a fan of that, which is a shame because I'm a sucker for articulated fingers. Wondering if I want this megs instead. If you guys could get only one of these figs which would it be?

As much as I don't want to say it, Optimus is probably the best one and I have them all. Though you honestly can't lose with any of them and they are all great. Drift convinced me to get more and he was cheaper than the others. So he might be a good intro to the line as he is really nice but not as large and accessory laden as some of the others.

That is if you can even find a K3 drift that's even remotely close to retail price

If anyone finds a new k3 drift that is decently priced, please tell me. I've been wanting one since the reissue was announced as I didn't have the money to buy one then

Anyone know why Optimus primal is so much cheaper than the others?

It's Furai, their line of model kits that's cheaper. Kuro Kara Kuri, to my knowledge, is higher quality and more expensive.

Furai action is a bit of a strange line right now. The first release (optimus) was just a prebuilt of one of their model kits with a coat of paint. Primal doesn't have a model kit yet so this is a entirely original to the furai action line. There's also diecast so it's probably not using the same mould as a potential model kit in the future.

As for the reason why it's so much cheaper, it's probably because of
    1. Height: Kuro kara kuri is 20+ cm. Primal is 17cm.
    2. Engineering: Notice how the way his articulation works is a bit more basic compared to the more expensive kuro kara kuri line i.e. sliding panels, springy bits, parts that move and shift together almost mechanically. This is a pretty big highlight of the line tbh.
    3. Paint: Kuro kara kuri is fully painted. The black fur bits on primal look like bare plastic. Maybe a gloss coat but it doesn't look painted to me. The colour profile is also a bit simpler on primal.

I heard the Tarn reissue was pretty good QC wise, so I mean if you really want him then I think you’d be okay. But I’m hoping Megatron is going to be their best so far

I am crossing my fingers .... especially after the debacle called Optimus Prime ..... I've seen multiple reviews and I think the general consensus was that the figure was pretty loose.

I think the issue with optimus was that his joints tolerances were just right while others were tight out of the box. They all loosen up by virtue of friction joints being friction joints but optimus would reach the point of being too loose much quicker because he started off with joints that were already less tight than the others.

That sucks, I was interested in getting Prime at some point. Still kind of want him, but now not so sure.
They need to ensure the joints can withstand the weight of the diecast over time. Or just use ratchet joints, but they probably never will because it won’t evoke the “premium” high scale feel they go for. I hope it doesn’t happen to Megatron or the Tarn reissue or any future releases.

My Prime has been awesome. It might be in my top 10 favorites. I have him in a pretty extreme poses on the stand floating on the arm. No issues.

Sidenote, totally unrelated to this thread but do any of you still see the profile/alerts/inbox bar on the home page? Because I have to click on forums in order to see it, mine has completely vanished from the home page

Pretty sure it's explicitly not a model kit. This design started as one, but I believe Furai Action is a completed figure but not as big or as premium as K3. Their model kits are like 50ish bucks, Primal is near 200.
