Retool of the Autobot version.
Looks like a new face and fusion cannon.
*Sigh* still waiting for windblade
Don't quite understand why, since he never had this look in the comics (he'd need a broken Tarn mask for a symbol, and he certainly didn't have that different face).
If they wanted to make a Decepticon Megatron, literally any other body would make more sense.
This is cheaper to produce. There's you "why".
And yet I have no doubt they'll make a different Megatron kit at some point, just like they've made several different kits of Optimus. So this version seems pretty pointless. Oh well!
I’m dumb, can someone make a side by side?
They remolded it and they didn't fix the chest details or add the arm-brace for the fusion canon? What is the actual point of this?
It seems tailor-made for folks like me who love Milne's design but utterly loathe the stupidity of "Autobot Megatron" and how it panned out and thus passed on the previous release. I especially appreciate the new, glaring face as I really disliked the stoned/bored face of the previous version.
Sadly, I'm still gonna wait for Stealth Bomber Megs.
I'm not familiar with the kit, what chest details are missing?
Fusion cannon is the same. Only difference is the face and will come with a Decepticon sticker
Edit: the face is the same. It’s just how they painted it and angled it for the photo. He’s the same model but with a con sticker.
They just added for black around the eyes and covered it in silver paint
Nice, definitely gonna pick this one up rather than the original.
Took the words right out of my mouth.
No, it's a new face. The "brow" is lower, more exposed, and the eyes angle down towards the nose more akin to the G1 animation model rather than being rounder and more neutral like in your photo. The cheeks are also set lower, again more evocative of the Sunbow face.
It's a nigh-imperceptible change, but it is a new part.
well, glad i didn't pick up the original version like i planned to last week lol
Both ends of the curly lines on his chest should point down, instead the middle ends point up on this, based on an art error from a handful of panels. Super nitpicky I know but if you're going to make new parts for a figure why not do some basic fixes.
So nigh-imperceptible in fact that I frankly just don't see the point of it. Without the extra paint and putting both faces side-by-side under a magnifying glass I could very much have ignored that there even was a difference, as for my eyes the same effect this kit has can, and has been accomplished quite simply and easily with a leftover reprolabel.
My only reason for wanting it would be if it's more readily available for the sake of having an extra, otherwise one sticker and a very SLIGHTLY altered face is barely a difference worth getting invested in.
Again, my guess is it's just for people who skipped Autobot Megs for a definitively Decepticon version, and not really people who already own the first run.
Hummm... it feels like a bit of a cash grab, they would have easily included both faces and both stickers in the original set. I like my Autobot version, I never wanted him a Deception (in this body) anyway, and Im cool with Autobot Megatron, it made total sense within the context of the story. I guess if you skipped the first one over an easily swapped out sticker you can get this.
