Any fans of the 1986 anime movie, anime show and manga? i am, i adored the movie since i was 14, read the manga when i was 15 and seen some fansub tapes of the show. Such a kick-ass example of Japanese animation and very influential too.
Love the old animated movie. Still got it on VHS somewhere. Wasn't so fond of the series though. And less said about the live-action film the better.
Awesome movie. I still love the battle where the huge dude just stomps all over everyone. Remember Project A-ko? One of her school mates is basically Kenshiro and does his fighting move. That cracked me up when I saw that.
i loved the series, and the movie. how ever, not so much the new version. though it is pretty, i don't like that they cut out the little girl!
Oh man, I love the TV series! I tried watching the movies but I still prefer the former! Kenshiro's methods of killing off his foes can be pretty intense and silly at times!
Needs a version done in photo real CGI. Now there's ten flavours of awesome. Although I do get funny looks from friends when they see the DVDs on my shelf. Until I make them watch it and then they go buy copies of their own.
I loved the anime when I was a teen but then I read the manga and never wanted to watch the anime adaptation again. That manga is just so damn good.
i really need to see it >> as a fan of animation it is a crime that i have never seen it same with akira i know, i don't know what the fuck is wrong with me
The Akira manga was way better than the film. I mean, the animation was pretty good for its time, but the plot was far too condensed to really work. Watch fist of the north star though. And then the live action Riki-oh: The Story of Ricky.
There's another bit of gold. I keep meaning to throw the dvd in the player and watch it again. So many great moments in that.
