I should mention that since this is just a CG mock up and it looks like the transformers will be animatronic, remember the bumblebee body, the colors they will most likely look more muted in the real version.
    Like so.

I thought only Bumbleebee in one scene (and maybe parts of some other TFs in other scenes) were going to be animatronic, while most of the TFs will be fully CGI (hence the various footage scenes of cars being knocked over by "nothing", explosions happening for no apparent reason).

Those nothings could have bin from the non existent weapons fire. It would be far easier to ether make it all CG or all animatronics than to blend the two. I can tell you however that there vehicle modes will be real. Were still guessing on anything else. But I do know that there's no way they’d use CG that un-naturally bright.

Hoping we get some Master Grade TF kits for these eventually like those Gundam kits.
After seeing how those are built, it's highly possible for them to look as good as the movie versions

you seem to be talking about something you dont know to much about.

first off, the robots will be almost completely CG in all scenes, save a small portion with animationics, I would estimate about 90% CG.

And as for the bright colors, they need to be bright to be able to show up well in the final rendered versions in the composited scenes, lighting, shadows, environment all have a MAJOR effect on how the texture shows through

Looking mighty fine. Seems like the head will be very 'Prime' like, although aparently Prime is really the only design that resembles his G1 counterpart.

    Indeed.

Just to show the difference lighting and enviroment have on the appearence of cg materials, I give you the following images:

    and:

The first is lit using a skylight in 3dsmax with no environment to reflect. The Prime renders in this thread are probably rendered in a similar fashion.

The second has a HDR image applied to both the skylight and the environment. There are no changes made to the materials themselves. I'm certain that ILM will also be using HDR image based lighting in the movie, so that will take care of the 'over saturated' colours in these renders. Assuming they're real in the first place.

Hmmmmm...that looks possible, although what I was looking at was this:

    <a href="http://imageshack.us"><img src="http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/2796/movieprimebp5.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us" /></a>

I don't know. The bottom part just seems too narrow to me. I'm putting my 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime's head at that same angle and the "cheek vents" almost extend past the visor. Although Movie Optimus Prime's "cheek vents" are thinner so maybe he's supposed to look like that. I don't know it just seems off to me.

Sorry about quoting myself, when I said that, I meant the full body drawing of Prime in that link (http://www.flickr.com/groups/transformersmovie/pool/) was fan made, I wasn't talking about the CG rendered arm.

Not too bad, though IF they're real, they're clearly in the test render stage.

I'm betting that the arm shot is mid-TF, as it clearly fits what we've heard about "exploding" transformations.

Very nice, this is exactly what I was hoping for in the movie if this turns out to be real. I love to blending of the many different incarnations into this new Prime. Cullen (G1), 2007 real vehicle mode (Alternators), Slim head and faceplate (RID), etc. Also, to those who are worried about the exposed parts between the vehicle plates being easy to hit by the human forces, I'm sure the movie will explain that their bodies are made out of Unobtainium or Adamantium or some other "alien" metal that can really only be damaged by Cybertronian weaponry. Yeah, I'm sure there are going to be a lot of humans in the movie, but I'm sure most of them are just there to get blown up by the Decepticons. Kinda like the military forces in a Japanese Godzilla movie.
