No toy will ever be The Final Ever. Tech, materials, engineering and budgets can always change. At best a toy can be "the most accurate yet". Even G1 Optimus Prime has gotten 3 Masterpieces, and I bet you that a Convoy 4.0 will happen before 2030. Ultimately, you were never going to get perfection at $20USD. And hey, PF is NOT $20, so it's not supplanting SS's place.

They were never billed as "only bayverse figures" either but if the overreaction that occurred when 86' was revealed is anything to go by it evidently didn't matter.

This forum needs to remind itself it's not representative of the online fandom just as much as the online fandom needs to remind itself it's not representative of general audiences.

Looks good enough, i'll try to get one along PF SS 2007 Optimus in Manda. Other than that, i'm not fan of the rest of the line. Though that new Siege Megatron looks actually cooler than the Netflix one.

I mean, it’s painted on the actual car used in the movie, the CGI robot mode model, MPM, and TT’s previous premium repaint: Movie The Best. So I think it’s valid to point out the missing paint apps here.

EDIT: to be clear, I’m talking about the arches, not the area behind the wheel.

I’m not a customizer so I probably won’t be adding any paint myself.

Of course I’ll still get him as he looks awesome overall, but the missing wheel well paint and incorrectly painted hubcaps are total head scratchers, especially after they got both of those right on the Movie The Best release.

It’s not accurate to compare these to US retail prices.

Premium Finish deluxes are less than $5 more expensive than regular deluxes here in Japan.
About $10 more for the voyagers.

The premium finishes so far have been underwhelming.

They're using the SS-25 silohuette, so it's most likely the 2007 version

Other than the transformation hinges in vehicle mode chipping awful, it looks like someone could have fun adding some color to the tools, lights, and some other small details on this.

If nothing else, I like his red chest piece that was shown on the renders for the original Siege Scream we didn't get

While there is generally always going to be room for improvement, more and more lately it feels like every toy is frustratingly one or two steps removed from being the definitive version.

Earthrise Ratchet / Ironhide? Near-perfect... except the feet.

Kingdom Core Soundwave... perfect... except the feet sticking up.

SS86 Grimlock... perfect... except the forearm gaps.

Studio Series V2 07 Optimus... a great improvement over the first figure, except now without collapsing wheel wells.

It always feels like there is something, just a small thing, being left on the table to keep you on the hook for the next version however many years later.

Because nothing is perfect on a budget, and no matter how good a thing is, we as fans will always find a thing to bitch about.

Case in point - Grimlock. You mention the forearm gaps. But we've had figures with forearm gaps for decades without much complaint. Because so much else was right with this figure, so people focused on the forearm gaps. But if those were fixed it would be the teeth, the tail, the arms, the teeth, the screw holes.

Why is it that a valid criticism of a figure is always dismissed as "bitching"? Am I not allowed to say that the Core Soundwave figure is literally one toe hinge away from being 99.9% perfect as a small Soundwave figure?
