We also got a Thundercracker out of TLK Nitro Zeus with a new head for SS so it wouldn't be that far off if the same was done here.

 

Ya know... I don’t really get a lot of movie figures any more. I don’t have any SS Bee’s and I regret getting the MPM VW Bee.

If they retool this into a VW 2.0 then I’d likely get it... along with an OSKO of it.

 

Damn! Can't wait to see Blitzwing, better be incredible.
And I really hope they at least try to make it in scale, hopefully a head or so taller than SS Bee Prime.

Studio Series has proven to be a successful line to such an extent they tackled Devy, the sisters, and gave us a Prime/Jetfire combiner.

You don't think they'll pivot to concept figures if the line is still making money even as they run out of on-screen characters?

 

The vw beetle studio series bumblebee was in my view ptetty average as a toy. Bot mode was realy poor. This jeep, although only in a brief part of the film is infinitely better in bot mode.

 

Nothing to say a Hound couldn't be, either.

 

Take Siege Hound’s head. Swap with Bumblebee’s head, paint him green, and boom.... Earthrise Hound.

 

The figure is a well-done representation of a WW2 jeep! I kinda want to get two or three and repaint one to match the way my dad's 1942 Ford GPW looks 

 

WW2? The scene he's based on is still set in the 80s, from a then-contemporary military fleet.

 

That is actually realistic, believe it or not. Some reserve units were still running WW2 and Korean War-era equipment into the early 90s because some of the lifer officers and mechanics who served with those old vehicles for years liked to keep them around. My dad's jeep was actually in the army until about 1975, when he rescued it from being scrapped alongside the more-modern MUTTs.

Jeep Bee's (Bumblejeep's?) alt mode is a WW2 jeep, mainly indicated by the style of the grill. WW2 jeeps have more grill slats in them than anything Jeep designed later. If you opened his hood you'd probably find that you can flip the headlights upside-down so that they'd light up the engine compartment   The WW2 jeeps also had the shovel and axe mounted on the driver side under where the driver enters the vehicle.

FUN FACT: The WW2 stamped jeep grill is actually a Ford design, not Willys. I think Willys reduced the grill design down to seven slats to avoid patent infringement, or something like that. There was a court case where a Ford engineer who helped design the WW2 jeep grill talked about the design and how it pertained to Chrysler not actually having any basis for going after an aftermarket grill company due to the grill originally being a Ford design.

Though the jeep he scans is quite obviously a WW2 era jeep, leftover from when the BB movie was still in the Bayverse and following TLK establishing him as active in that period, but this can easily be explained as the jeep just being surplus used for running drills. (as Burns' squad was doing in the final film) Like it may have not even ran, could've just been "set dressing" for cover in their paintball training exercises.

 

Were it not for the recent release of WW2 Hotrod, the mould would be perfect for an improved WW2 Bumblebee, given that the altmode he had in TLK’s flashback was an open-topped staff car.

 

The main problem with WWII Bumblebee is that his onscreen alternate mode is incompatible with his robot mode kibble.

So he would either be a complete shellformer with loads of fake kibble in robot mode that doesn't form any of his alternate mode parts, or have a new robot mode that's not screen-accurate.

Also, making him a full-on Nazi vehicle would not fly well if Hasbro wants to sell the toy in Germany...

 

The Jeep Bee mold is very impressive. Barely any kibble and a very nice transformation.

 

Ah well. I suppose if they did make a figure, they could go for a generic staff-car design as apposed to anything specific.

they might just be able to get away with a fake chest combined with engineering taken from Off-road Bee, but as you said, it’s unlikely.

 

Normally any Bumblebee is just so and so because we see too many of them. But Jeep Bumblebee look impressive.
