You got the Takara version.
About the panels, check out if the pipes are corrrectly lined.
The leg panels on the Takara version are a bit more tricky than the Hasbro version. You need to make sure that the step is pushed all the way into the leg and the panels on the back of the legs/calves are pulled all the way out, then the blue panels on the side of the legs should click into place.
My Takara didn't line up out of the box either, but with one transformation to robot mode and then back to truck mode, everything tabbed in!
I hope this helps!
Ah yeh. I didn't realise Takara version was packaged in vehicle mode.
How far do they come out? They're in pretty tight. Don't want to risk breaking it lol.
MPM-4 is a height cheater. It may looks small compared to MP-10 but once you compare them side to side, it's almost just the same.
MPM's box (voyagers sized) made that visual cheat. Hahaha..
I hope they release an official fixed version around 2019-2020.
I read somewhere there will be re-release of this same mold around this year.
It barely moves out, but makes the difference on if those panels sit flush or not. Mine are pretty tight as well.
Yea it's rumored for this Spring but no preorders are up yet.
It was almost unbelievable that a figure the size of MP10 in robot mode could fit into the box. I was shocked once I saw the box and got the figure out.
Functionally it works better with hips extended downwards. However I think they are meant to compress when standing straight, to better match the CG(the entire torso looks more squat than tall that way).
Ok Thanks. I'll give it a try
Fixed version or just a rerelease?
Rerelease but hopefully fixed as MP reissues tend to have some fixes/alterations. In addition, it's widely known that MPM04 had questionable qc up until the release of the Takara and Hasbro 72 run. Even with the latter 2, they weren't perfect production runs. Takara seems largely good, seemed like you would either get a really good copy or catastrophically compromised one like reg002's 2 copies. For Hasbro, 71 runs were best to avoid(Type-R and someone else here got one that tabbed fine). 72 run figures seemed to be substantially better than 71s but with some cases of bad qc. More reports of 72s tabbing together better with less gaps than 71s.
Hmmm strange but that back panel doesn't seem to affect the side panels on mine! I can open or close the back panel freely when the side is all in place. What does make the difference for me is to note the side panel is on a double hinge that needs to be configured correctly between modes. It doesn't simply open, then you shove in the tool box part, then close it up. The double hinge has to be repositioned so that the side panel can close up in the correct position.
Got my Mr Bucket upgrade kit. Hands are REALLY silver. It’s a little jarring at first but you get used to them after a while. The accessories are pretty good but I can’t figure out how to get these hands to hold the axe. It seems mostly designed for the leader hands. It is nice that all the weapons can be held by either sets of hands. All in all, pretty good.
So do you feel like it was worth the price? I've been real curious about this set but there are only a few reviews of it and barely any pictures of the finished product.
Would it be possible to post a few more pictures kind of showcasing the set, please?
I finally found one at Toys R Us today!! Im excited! Just picked it up and will get to fiddle with it tonight. Been wanting one of these for almost a year now!
Sure. I don’t have a real good photography setup but I hope this gives you an idea.
I don’t have the hooks setup to attach to the hands but they can and it does look good. I also obviously have the handbacks that can be pegged into. But it comes with handbacks that are clean.
I got it for $30 on eBay and I think that was worth it, especially given that I got a Takara one without a thumb. The hands are really dynamic and add a good deal of expressiveness to the figure. The weapons are all good and although the gunmetal might seem like it would contrast weirdly with the lighter grey here, it actually works well.
Can those hands hold the hook swords?
whoooa i did not know about the mr bucket set! i really only want the axe from that set, does anybody wanna split a set? i'll take the hands too if i need to
Awesome pictures! Thank you for taking the time and effort to take pictures and write up some thoughts about the set. I may just have to order one for myself!
Not with those adapters, no. The set comes with two sets of handles for everything: one for the MP style grip and one for the ROTF mold. The hooks can peg to the back of the hands though, but you have to unscrew and rescrew some tiny screws to do it.
So the hook swords can't be configured to plug and play?
No, they can. They can either be held in the ROTF Leader hands or peg into the back of the hands that came with the set. You just have to swap out the adapters on hooksword to do so.
Maybe the instructions will make it clearer.
