Now this is some real fearmongering BS. Why would TFWiki write something like that? Just because Hot Rod hasn't come in stock on Walmart.com doesn't mean the toy is "not on a release schedule", and TFWiki doesn't have the authority or knowledge to claim that. Hot Rod hasn't even been officially announced yet. For all we know he could be revealed in tomorrow's livestream.

 

Yeah, I think it's really unlikely that he's actually cancelled. Apparently the whole Velocitron line is getting clearanced in lots of stores so presumably they're just trying to make room for him.

Normally TFWiki doesn't even mention toys until they've been officially announced or acknowledged (by Hasbro) in some way, so I'm surprised there's an entry for this figure there at all.

 

Velocitron voyagers and leaders got clearanced because the stores didnt have assortment sku's on shelves. They had the individual sku's for Override, Hauler, and Scourge. The reason the deluxes didnt go clearance was due to the fact that the assortment sku was what they used in stores. But yes, likely Hot Rod should hopefully be on the next planogram. Weird if they dont fix the box art being wrong.

 

In hindsight, I'm kinda disappointed they didn't add some orange in there to be a TLK/movie Hot Rod homage also.

It'd be interesting if this was an early planned figure that they pulled to do a magenta Hot Rod deco instead based on our feedback last year.

That could be one explanation for why it didn't actually get announced or go live: major deco change.

Fuck. Of course they cancel it now that I actually want it. Now give us an IDW Rodimus to make up for it dammit. Kingdom Rodimus isn't working to fill the niche on my Lost Light shelf like I thought he might and I'm definitely not buying a second regular SS86 Hot Rod.

Where is this coming from? I see a screenshot that relates what a Hasbro employee allegedly said (but is not a post by the Hasbro employee), and another screenshot without any source that doesn't even claim to come from Hasbro.

 

Hasbro held a closed door Q and A today with prominent members of the community and fan sites. It was said there’s no official plans to release this guy as of now. The entire conversation has been front paged on this website if you need further proof.

 

In the end I don't think it was that great, the leg tampos are just ignoring detail lines. And the arm tampos from the toy are just absent... I hope he gets re-released but not like this.
