I don't even think "backlash" factored in to it.
Prime's trailer isn't as interesting as Rodimus to begin with. And putting Prime at the Leader price makes it easier to get in to stores and more appealing to broader audiences. Which is good because Prime's the big seller.
Putting Rodimus at the higher level means they can give him the flashier trailer with the big cannon like his toy. And Rodimus has some name value, but you're not putting the big name in Prime at the tougher price.
Same reason all the Dinobots are leaders in Studio. Grimlock has name value, but dinos are always popular.
I have dibs on Ejector
I just threw up in my mouth reading this nonsense
I like how this thread went from a decent reveal to a dumpster fire lmao
So is the consensus that this is essentially a larger SS86 Hot Rod with a trailer?
More or less yes. Transformation isn’t identical but it’s mostly the same.
And having a separate trailer would make the figure more screen accurate.
Except for the times when Rodimus Prime's trailer was actually incorporated into the transformation of his body.
I'm not arguing, I actually agree with you.
It's just that the animation in G1 is all over the place.
I think he may have transformed with the trailer becoming his body more than he did with it just kind of vanishing like Optimus's trailer did.
Who are these people that demanded scale and accuracy?
How dare they?
Where are there beds?
Why are they not sleeping in them?
I've been a Transformers fan since 1984.
I never expected there to be a line that adhered to relative scale -because there never was one.
There were certainly figures who
The fan chatter certainly stated it would be nice, but I don't remember anyone demanding it.
I've been to Comic Cons and BotCons and the topic was never brought up in any panel that I remember.
When the Masterpiece line started adhering to a relative scale I remember the sentiment on these boards was one of welcome surprise.
Then the Studio Series emerged and it wasn't immediately evident that Hasbro was trying to adhere to a relative scale at first.
The people who "demanded" scale and accuracy certainly didn't declare victory when this happened.
Then the adherence to scale moved to more assortments and, again, it was a bit of a surprise.
Well, whoever DEMANDED scale and accuracy, thank you.
I'm loving it so far.
Given the lead time needed for designing toys the figure and its size class were probably already decided on before fans saw, let alone purchased, ER Prime.
What's the big deal again?
I think he looks fine, not too bad. I just might get him.
What a waste of Commander Class.
Literally a Voyager mold with a trailer and a new head. Woooooooooooow
Oh well, least I won't be spending as much this year.
Except it isn't. It's an all-new mould that actually transforms differently.
It takes literally seconds to find a picture of SS86 Hot Rod online to see the differences.
dude he’s a troll. Don’t feed them.
I'm fine with Commander Class not being limited to giants only. It just means we'll get even better versions of other characters that won't feel as cheap. Maybe that Armada Optimus that was revealed a couple of years ago will be a Commander class if It's ever released. If that thing's going to have It's trailer for the Super Mode I don't think it would be able to fit under the current leader class budget anyways.
Looks pretty good. My main issue with it is that the windshield's shape is off, but hopefully they can fix it with paint like they did with ss86 Hot Rod. I'm dying to see it with the trailer. My collection is in desperate need of a good Rodimus Prime toy (looks at potp version with distain), so I'm 100% in on this. Also, am I the only one getting dx9 carry vibes from this guy?
Well that's even a bigger waste of resources, considering that Rodiumus is exactly like Hot Rod only bigger, with a slightly different chest, an "older" head and a trailer.
That ALL could've been done as a Leader.
Waste. Of. Commander. Slot.
I can’t wait to see how people react when they realize that the Commander Class will probably be used for other large characters with trailers, such as Laser Prime, Thunderclash, etc.
That usually always happens when an official reveal/leak hits the front page and all those that make a hobby of crapping on everything official come out of the woodwork to offer opinions on why it all sucks.
Whatever. That's why the scroll bar exists.
I'm going to guess that the trailer isn't all that justifies the price point. The main bot will hopefully be as solid and nicely done as the SS86 Hot Rod, and I bet we get a plethora of really fun accessories and hopefully some new blast effects.
Yeah more than likely but they clearly dont want a repeat of that. Plus in the anniversary year why not give a definitive version of the character cause lets face it over the years Rodimus has been really hit and miss.
Separate names with a comma.
