I saw the video, I still like Rodimus, and will definately get one.
What's this about blast effects parts melting plastic?
Damn, that's pretty good there. I think you nailed the issue I have with the face. It's not a deal breaker but I agree a 3rd Party face based on this would be great. Also a new color molded yellow spoiler. I mentioned it earlier in the thread but looking at PvsP's video, it looks like it's held on with screws so it should be easy to replace.
@PrimeVsPrime Great review as always, many Thanks!
I noticed that Rodimus seemed slightly shorter than previously released images. This is because of the way his upper body was sitting compared to the way you have transformed him, which seems to be the correct way but makes him look a bit stumpy for me. Whoever took those images did not tab in his upper body which allows his chest piece to sit slightly higher.
I may do the same as well as add something into his hollow feet to boost his height and make him look better next to Galvatron. Before anyone gets offended by my statement, this is just my personal preference.
You may not be able to buy happiness but $80 worth of plastic sure gets me closer to it.
Looking at the beginning of the video where he talks about the alt mode, it appears that all the wheels touch. At least that's how it looks to me. I imagine that when the turntable video with the wheels not all touching was made, they just didn't have everything smushed together quite right.
The photo he posted on page 254 with the trailer cannon on Rodimus' back has the wheels correctly transformed on the arms.
Nice edit! I’d totally buy a new face/head if one became available just to have the option of changing them out.
Only Hasbro can get me to buy a space Winnebago.
Man, so many size queens in this thread.
In theory the blast effects if left on for a long period of time will eventually become sticky and bond to the plastic causing damage to the parts beneath them or when you try to remove them.
But outside of extreme conditions, this really would take years to see it happen, and can simply be remedied by changing around your display once in a while, or when you put figures away also storing the effect pieces and the Transformers they go with separately.
Same here! I genuinely find it so intriguing how people feel so personally offended when a figure is being released that they just don't like for one reason or another.
If I'm understanding your question, no, Rodimus Prime doesn't combine with the trailer outside Space Winnebago mode.
One thing worth noting that we can glean from these new shots and video, is that even if the parts storage tray weren't incorporated into the trailer (so that there wasn't a "wall" for the cab to run into,) the trailer wheel wells as well as the molding for the interior of the trailer would still both prevent the back of the cab from slotting any deeper into the trailer. You can see this in the bottom views shown in combined alt mode.
The only possible means of addressing that would be for the wheel wells to be spaced wider on the trailer (making the wheels protrude more or making the entire trailer wider,) or narrowing the cab's width somehow. And that still wouldn't resolve the spoiler's insertion depth limit. They'd have had to design the interior of the trailer itself differently, or make the spoiler shorter or slideable somehow, to accommodate that.
The other thing they could have done, though this would have been a completely different toy with totally different engineering, would be what others have suggested they wish they had, which is make the cab and trailer a single alt mode that transform together as one into bot mode.
The problems with that though are 1) he'd have to be a much larger bot mode to incorporate that mass (which, yes, I know some wanted anyway due to the Commander price point,) and 2) you'd lose the functional trailer aspect (which, yes, I also know some people don't care about to begin with.)
So essentially if you want the functional trailer (which for many of us is a necessary feature, and one we haven't seen in a Rodimus toy in forever,) you can't really do the integrated combined mode approach. Unless you want to do parts-forming, which we already saw the results of in PotP (which I personally still like, but it's nowhere near the level of engineering or cohesion of this figure.)
Well shoot, I was coming around to the head but now I can't unsee Rodimus' yaoi hands compared to Prime there!
(Though, maybe that gives him some charm... old, wise, big hand'ed Rodimus)
Nope, oversized KO of SS86 Hot Ro... nevermind!
Rodimus can Own Optimus on the basketball court.

Ah man, that looks great! Someone actually make this, please...
