I love Hot Rod.   I have no desire to change your mind. I was just comparing G1 Hot Rod to G1 Rodimus from a transformation, articulation, and engineering standpoint.

Rodimus doesn't look emaciated. Have you forgotten Generations Kup? That was emaciated.

Actually, I don’t think Kup looks emaciated at all. It’s his puffy cheekbones that “fix” that for me. He looks old and grizzled to me which I think is what they were going for.

As for Rodimus, it’s those sullen eyes and sharp cheekbones that, again for me, make him look like the knight in Last Crusade right before he turns to dust. Kinda ghoulish IMHO.

 

Kup's face is sunken in, the whole mouth area. That's how emaciated people look.

 

I still wish there was something connecting the pipes where the fin goes, a hinge part. I imagine some upgrade kit creators might at least toss in a removable rubber filler for vehicle mode. Small nitpick, but it's what my eyes focus on everytime I see a photo.

 

Thinking about it it's a shame Rodimus doesn't have an energon buzzsaw to go with the other leaders' energon weapons.

I like that idea. Hmm, I do have a spare set of weapons from Energon Signal Flare... Might have to see how Rodimus looks with them once I have him in-hand.
