I feel the same as you. IMO $65 would have been the perfect price, but Im happy with almost everything except the elongated cab/trailer configuration. That's mostly a nitpick.

He was asking why some people hate it, not why you guys love it. You can write a fluff piece about how amazing it is when someone asks why they love the figure.

(For those about to go nuts, It’s a good figure, I like how it looks. It’s just too expensive to me.)

What could have gotten Rodimus Over? Primal got over by having the name Optimus (The Name you Know) and Most people thinking he was Optimus Prime (Hence the Truck not Munke Crowd) until it was confirmed he wasn't but by that time People were into the show, So what could have invoked the image of Optimus Prime? I noticed in the Japanese continuity the Majority of the Leaders after Rodimus ether have mouth grills or looked like Optimus/Convoy so much they when released to the rest of the world they just made them Optimus Prime.

Yeah.... probably. Just tend to oversimplify it since even when I wrote about it in longer form people usually had the same reaction.

Is it fluff to say that a large, modular artillery piece that mounts both in and on the trailer renders the statement “empty box” factually and objectively false?

Like it or don’t like it, that’s cool. Like it but think it’s overpriced, that’s cool. But words have meanings, and “empty” does NOT mean “contains a double-barreled artillery canon”.

Just curious, which one(s) is your favorite and why? I am also a Hot Rod / Rodimus Prime fan.

I've been trying to sleuth out how this figure's transformation works. Early on, I think most assumed this would borrow a lot of engineering from Studio Series Hot Rod. And I do think there is some of that going on, even though these are all new parts. Particularly in the legs.

It looks like the shins open to contain the thighs similarly to Hot Rod, and like the wheels and side of the piping accordion into the shins for bot mode, similarly to Hot Rod as well. The feet end up at the rear of alt mode.

transformation feet legs 2.jpg transformation feet legs 1.jpg

There appears to be a rotation joint at the seam of the windshield's opening joint as with Hot Rod as well, but the final orientation of where it ends up differs, because we can see that joint ends up basically in bot mode's... well... crotch, for lack of a better term :lol  but it also ends up with the windshield oriented in such a way that it has to have rotated before folding up first or else it would be backwards. Actually, scratch that. It does fold up into his torso from behind, but doesn't need to rotate first. I'm just always confused by rotation in imaginary 3D spaces lol.

transformation windshield vents and side joints.jpg transformation windshield 1.jpg transformation windshield joint and vents.jpg

... and we can also of course see that the alt mode's prominent round holes and joints fold together for bot mode:

    transformation side joints and pegs.jpg

Where it gets interesting, is in the car's hood/bot mode's chest, and shoulders/car front orientation. Since we know the windshield folds up between the chest/hood and back/spoiler/vents section, there needs to be quite a bit of room for the chest/hood to get to where it needs to be in bot mode. And it can't simply be that it straightforwardly folds up, because otherwise it would be upside down. We also see what might be evidence of a hinged pair or armatures that might facilitate this bit of magic:

transformation armature 1.jpg transformation armature 2.jpg

Then the other mystery is how the shoulders end up oriented the way they are. Simply turning the arms over doesn't do it, because given where the wheels are relative to the hood in alt mode...
    1617983294814 (2).jpg
... just turning the arms over would lead to the wheels ending up facing forward in bot mode (crudely, like this):
    rotated arm.jpg
    But they face the back:
    transformation interior torso.jpg

So there's probably something similar to what Hot Rod did happening to get the shoulder oriented correctly, but that's also a bit of a mystery since Rodimus lacks SS86's faux chest, and it's hard to see exactly how the hood gets rotated correctly.

And that render from the packaging above also shows us some of the details happening on the interior of the torso. I can't quite suss out what they're doing, but there's got to be some sort of rotation of not only the wind shield joint as shown above, but the chest/hood and/or arms in a non-obvious way, to end up with the final bot configuration we see.

Pretty cool engineering, whatever it is, imo. Has anyone figured out exactly what's happening yet? I can't quite guess :lol  I know only that it looks awesome to me. And that it's impressive it's only 8 steps according to the box.
