Armada Starscream..? They're making an update to that mold, or simply using the paint scheme?
Nah, the Transformers fandom is a hivemind. Didn't ya know?
I love MTMTE Whirl and his psychoses, so an IDW version would have been cool. But honestly I have loved G1 Whirl 25+ years longer. So this is awesome for me. Though ironically he'll probably be mostly used as IDW Whirl an posed with his Lost Light crewmates
-ZacWilliam, basically I'm an equally large fan of Roberts damaged-insane Whirl and my childhood imagination's fun Howling Mad Murdoch Whirl, so really this couldn't go wrong for me.
I'd like the IDW style chest too but it looks like his legs are attached to the sides of the cockpit.
It's not IDW Whirl, but still looks pretty cool. Can't wait for better/properly transformed pictures.
A new mold Deluxe, it was talked about during Botcon. There could be more info later during SDCC.
I couldn't agree more, well said bro! I don't care if it looks too G1 or doesn't look like the IDW one, I'm thankful enough that we actually get a brand new Whirl mold. Another toy that I can add to my current Classics Wreckers crew.
Btw since they're able to make a new Whirl based on the ol' Takatoku toy, hopefully in the near future they'll make a new Roadbuster toy too (also based on Takatoku design).
Looks great. He's a definite buy! I love that he's such a great homage to G1 Whirl. That toy always looked like an alien weirdo next to the other Transformers, and this one has the same vibe.
Man... that kinda sucks.
What the ever living fuck are you talking about? The only characters shown with any kind of romantic attachment so far are Chromedome and Rewind. Whirl barely has anything you can consider a friend.
Do you mean MEH? Lolololol
Disappointed that we didn't get an IDW one, but I am glad with what we got.
I would've definitely been down for a MTMTE Whirl, but this is still pretty awesome. It makes me hope we get a Roadbuster soon now to go with him!
and to those who say that MP collectors aren't the same as Classics collectors, you're wrong. I collect both, and they both fill a different space in my heart. This guy looks like he'll fit perfectly in my Classics collection.
Did they say 4 of them ???
4 is practically a trend.
Somehow I no longer want to think to hard about Gestalts interfacing either... I'm not sure if that is better or worse when it comes to King Neptune though where one of them is a fembot.
and as for Arcee and Daniel - boy you really don't want to go there at all.
Oh and a Minicon Combiner sounds like fun... Reminds me of a friend of mine who wanted a bunch of Headmaster Nebulans who turned into a combiner robot when their "Partners" are in vehicle mode.
Oh and unfortunately my occasional eccentricities can not be blamed on drink. I just react to IDW like some people do to Michael Bay or Beast Transformers.
And why do the Dinobots always get a get out of jail free card from Beast-haters ?
You sure sound like someone who is posting under influence.
Oh, I get that. And trust me, I'm no geewunner, I enjoy almost every permutation of Transformers and have no problem with reimagined characters (in fact, I like them).
If anything, I guess my point (and I don't think is a negative thing) is that our fanbase is so all-over-the-map, now, in terms of design preference, that new figures are almost all bound to meet mixed opinions. Usually it's fairly safe for the designer to err toward G1 influence, but it's sort of funny that even that's not a totally safe bet anymore.
I have no data to back this up, but I'd respectfully disagree with the word "most." G1 Whirl has a decent number of fans, I think, due to his unique design and toy origins (plus his status as a Wrecker).
Heh, see, I think there would be just as many people who would "settle" for a MTME Whirl, despite having wanted a new G1-inspired Whirl for a while now.
Anyhow, I respect your opinions, and I'm not trying to start an argument. I get why opinions are mixed on this guy. I'm mostly just bemused at why reactions are so mixed, and what it illustrates about the hard-to-please nature of our current collector community.
Overall it's a good thing, though. People like different stuff, are generally ready to embrace new versions of things, and it keeps the line fresh and growing.
Love it. Next up rotorstorm
I think this one has me beaten : http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...-synopsis-spoilers-aplenty-2.html#post9740824
But thanks for the vote anyway.
So just to confirm there are gay Transformers but that may not include Whirl.. who is instead just insane.
OK right got it he's straight but mad.
Now what is the G1/IDW version of 'Trukk not Munkky' or RIR/FIB ?
Thoughts and Suggestions (keep it clean).
I was kinda hoping for a more MTMTE-esque Whirl but it still looks great.
Maybe it was designed this way so Hasbro could do a Rotorstorm next.
