very uninspiring. looks too similar to the 1st release. Would have been a good idea to replace the red with a different color....maybe white and call him ultra magnus?

 

If his Thighs and Forearms were silver, I'd be in love........But it's not. I think they were going for a G2 color scheme.

 

And gave him clear windows.  

 

There isn't a point for collectors.

There is a point for Hasbro/Retailers/Kids.

Don't think of it so much as a "repaint" but as a "re-release" or a "refresh".

Hasbro wants to keep on selling Optimus Prime, he's the main character of the media through the end of the year in the same colors. They need Optimus Prime on the shelves in similar colors... so just "refresh" him a bit for the "Primus Unleashed" waves.

If you can't see the difference immediately in a repaint, then wtf is the point in having it (other than being an insane completist - I'm partway there, but still won't touch this thing)?

 

I'm actually surprised that they went w/ such a subdued repaint. Especially considering some of the far-out reapaints they've done in the past few years (I'm lookin' at you Cannonball!).

 

Looks okay, I kinda like it. Won't be in any hurry to get it though. Would've been nice if they replaced all the red, wth blue maybe. That'd look good.

 

BTW, when is that bendy Prime gonna come out?!

 

Damn, I was so looking forward to a Black Nemesis prime repaint of this figure. This is a pointless repaint, I think I will pass. Maybe I'll get him when he is clogging clearance shelves, but probably not.

Prime with no Autobot insignias. That's weird. Wish they'd used that shade of red, for the original release.

I'm waiting on the bedy Prime repaint. I've got about three different custom ideas, for that one.

 

Any guesses as to when we're gonna see a Voyager or (*shudders*) Supreme Sunstorm?

 

I did my own repaint of the Voyager into sunstorm, I didnt use his LoC colors but more a a gun metal grey and metalic gold. It was shown at botcon last year, but i think they should do more with the voyager size class.

As far as this repaint goes (if you can call it that) i am very unimpressed. I would have rather seen Nemisis Prime/Scourge repaint or heck even a Magnus repaint.

Hasbro needs to do something like re-lease a reapint of energon divebomb in Repungnus colors.
