I dunno, doesn't look very gun-like to me. C'mon, he's Optimus Prime. He needs some ridiculous, Rob Liefield esque weaponry.
Looking at it closer, it looks like the that thing folds in half and then the barrel swings forward... It could be a pretty nice gun after you transform it...
Indeed. Hope this is just a mis-assembled test shot. Either that or some kind really funky way of transforming going on. And as for his gun, well what can they do? They have to use the engine for it. Otherwise, you'd have an engine hanging off of him somewhere, or no engine at all. Plus, what would you do for a gun? Give him some big ass cannon that has absolutely no where to go in vehicle mode? No thanks.
I'm thinking for the gun, they could hide a pretty big one somewhere on/in his legs since it's the bed of the truck... Or maybe a big ass muffler??? So far the Jeep and RX-8 molds are the only ones without engine guns... They could've gone that route with OP too...
It doesn't look terrible, but it doesn't look great either. Probably not going to happen, but one thing that think would make it better is if the engine turned into a matrix instead of a gun or if there was a two piece engine or something where he could have both an engine and a gun.
Yeah, I dunno. At first I was like, eh ok. But now I'm not so sure. I need a lot more pictures of how he looks before I decide on getting him. Gotta be a bit more picky.
ZacWilliam I love the PS job there, I agree that this mold would have been a perfect Trailbreaker. Oh well! Perhaps it can get a repaint/remold. I think the legs on this are lame, the way they're colored anyway. It looks like they were trying to make it look too complex when simple would have worked better. The upper arms look shit to me also. Besides that, the main part of the arms, the chest, and the head are all acceptable. I may appreciate it more in person, who knows. It's not as terrible now that we see it transformed more properly.
Actually, the correct romanization is with a J, and not a G. The name is spelled ジンライ, and ジ is spelled as "ji" while writing katakana on a western keyboard; while if I type "gi", I get ギ, and that kana sounds more like "gui" than "gi". Edit: OK, I agree there's no such thing as a correct romanization and that in english both "ji" and "gi" sound like ジ, but it's more common when writing japanese on a western keyboard or when looking at romanizations on japanese dictionaries to find ジ as "ji" and ギ as "gi" (sounds "gui" as in guitar). You don't see people writing "gaigin", but gaijin. -airfox
honestly, I don't expect much out of a pick up truck. there's only so much you have to work with, and to make somethign that remotly looks like a robot and still transform into a realistic truck, that's one tough job to pull off!! I think they did it quite nice
Just because some of us don't like him, doesn't mean we won't buy him. I buy all the Alternators, regardless of how crappy they are, and this one is really crappy.
Nah it will follow the Prowl pattern, everyone lambasts him but when hes released its love all round (still should be Trailbreaker though)
