I made a WIP thread for this over a month ago, and I actually finished not long thereafter, but didn't really have a chance to post anything about it until now. LSotW made me, like so many others, want toys of the characters, and since I'd wanted to do a custom for awhile, I decided that would be the best way to get them. Generations Thunderwing was still floating around a few stores, and his jet mode looked to me like it would work well for the Megajet, so even though I had no real means of making the Gigatank to go along with it I decided to give it a try. Instead the head and lower legs come from a dilapidated RiD Wedge from a yard sale, and the thighs come from Animated 2-Pack Megatron. I like to think I did okay. He still has more Thunderwing in his chest than Overlord, the back kibble is kind of out of place, and he's way too small, but it still looks fairly nice (from the correct angle, at any rate), IMO. Warning: I am a shitty photographer and didn't really feel like re-shooting any of these so blurry photos are blurry. In retrospect I should't have used the tripod on a freaking carpet. I think the altmode turned out better than the 'bot mode, frankly. His undercarriage, showing the transformation still, for the most part, works. Arg blurry 'bot mode photo arg arg arg! Closeup on the chest and legs Comparison photo. Thunderwing clearly doesn't trust his new mold-mate. (Now there's going to be a flashback in the IDWverse showing them to be good friends at one point or another, I know it.)
different. I would have made the arms look like tank treads and made the top of the plane attach to one of the arms, but it is none the less awesome.
Pretty darn good for your first custom! Considering the ton of kibble on Thunderwing's underside in jet mode... those bits probably could be transferred onto a transformable tank of sorts.
Thank you. Thanks! Aw man, I wish I'd thought of that; I'll bet I could have dug up some tread-arms that fit from somewhere. Oh well. Thank you! Maybe someday when I'm more experienced I'll give that a shot.
thats awesome i saw it and thought "this is gonna suck because that mold is terrible and it being his first custom he wont make it look good" i was wrong and i apologize head needs his antenna though
