I love how nobody reads the date. This is something that's been rather confusing me all day in fact, as this is being reposted on a number of new websites. The news about TNP is from last Novemeber.

Here's their blog about it back then, which explains the name of Tactical Nuclear Penguin.

Here's the real news, their new, 41% beer - Sink the Bismarck!

A friend of mine was at the tasting in London for it last friday, I believe he enjoyed it, but along with everything else he drank, was very hungover the next day!...

These ridiculously high alcoholic beers always taste miserable. In order to make them palatable usually use way too strong a malt. I'm usually a sucker for a try though. I've had plenty of beers that were 12% to 15% and I think the highest alcohol content I've tried was around 21%. It was really expensive but I brought it to a Christmas party last year thinking it would be a good one time occasion kid of thing. It was wretched. It tasted like a tall glass of stale bourbon.

Beer is normally almost water. I drink ales and stouts for the taste and I have reservations about having one with this high an alcohol content. I agree with blumpy2000 about often using too stron a malt.

If I want liquor I'll drink hard liquor. 12 year-old Irish whiskey, 151 rum straight up (I've had a bartender call it rubbing alcohol when he served it), sweet vermouth straight up (I know), vodka with a host of mixers, chartreuse in elixir strength is nectar of the gods...

I am SO glad my fiancee works in a whiskey factory. For Xmas she brought me a 1 litre bottle of Vladivar Gold Label vodka.
    It's 100% proof; that 57% vol.
I think I might spike the drinks at the wedding with it.

    32%.

Scotland: We most definitely win at drinking!

Aye, it's been out for a while, a mate has an extra bottle tucked away. Press made it seem as if all the neds would be swigging it on street corners, definitely a sipping beer, a bottle over the course of the evening.

There's a German one that's 40%, there's one pub in the UK with it, funnily enough in Scotland. They're selling it as one nip per customer, still faced outrage for encouraging binge-drinking though.

Brewdog are a great wee brewery, a mate kinda knows one of them, set up a few years ago, and have gone from strength to strength. Paradox is my favourite, but again easy does it :D

I tasted a few high alcohol percentage deer. If I can imagine what ass taste like, it would taste like the beers that I sampled.

Small servings are for girly-men and wusses. Real men drink beer either by the can, or bottle. And the really real men CHUG! CHUG! CHUG! ;)  :D
