Apparently at some point in 2005 or 2006, FINAL FANTASY III will be released on the revolutionary NINTENDO DS. Is it a direct port of the original Super NES game or an updated port much like the GBA's FF 1 & 2: Dawn of Souls? Or is it an all new remake of the classic masterpiece that fully utilizes the full potential (touch-screen, voice recording, etc.) of Nintendo's newest handheld system? Any thoughts, information, or screenshots of the game will be greatly appreciated.
its the Japanese Only FFIII thats never been released here. what we got as FF3 was really 5 or 6 or something.. and yes. Its the ONLY reason im getting a DS... im sad it wont be on Playstation cause its the Only One thats not !
Yeah, what the US knows as Final Fantasy III is Final Fantasy VI. This is the REAL FFIII. And it's the only huge reason I want a DS. I want one for the new Castlevania to a lesser extent. *EDIT* And I'm with you, ginrai. I wish 3 could have been a PlayStation release since I already have 1-2 and 4-10 for it.
Well I can bet it's going to at least be as good as 1&2 dawn of souls which was dropjaw awsome (though I admit I'v not finished 2) I'm betting this will either be a 2D update in that style or a full 3D remake. But deffinately something more than a port.
I like the idea of a "Final Fantasy Collection" that would have to be made up in to three or four volumes. Volume One: - Final Fantasy - Final Fantasy II - Final Fantasy III Volume Two: - Final Fantasy IV - Final Fantasy Mystic Quest - Final Fantasy V - Final Fantasy VI Volume Three: - Final Fantasy VII - Final Fantasy VIII - Final Fantasy IX Volume Four - Final Fantasy Tactics - Some of the GameBoy Final Fantasy ports (I know it's under a different name in Japan but I don't care bite me)
I think they'd leave Mystic Quest out since it was never released in Japan. That was made cause Square thought everyone in North America had the brains of a child, and we couldn't handle "real" RPGs. Mystic Quest is a pre-schoolers game.
More likely 1-3, and each one after that released individually. If it was just a direct port, MAYBE they would squeeze 4 and 5 in together. Of course, it's already been confirmed that 3 is standalone, so shut it up, me.
I hope they do a Final Fatasy VI on the DS. I'll get that one. Fantasy 1 is okay, I just got the last crystal thing and I'm already Lv. 80. I get lost and every two steps I make I'm in battle. So leveling up is no problem in this game. Also need a Chrono Trigger remake for the DS. Other then Fantasy VII, Chrono Trigger is the only other RPG I passed.
If FINAL FANTASY III (DS) is this Japanese-exclusive title which was released on either the Famicom or Super Famicom, then why the DS? It could easily be put on the Game Boy Advance if it is just a straight port of original FF3. I believe that the DS game is a slightly altered version of this with updated graphics and touch screen controls. For the cinematic scenes, I just hope it looks like anime.
FFIII was on the Famicom. I'm almost certain they'll update the graphics to look more like IV-VI, like they did with FF Origins and Dawn of Souls. I doubt it will have new content (like Dawn of Souls) because it hasn't been re-relreased before. Probably just updated graphics and touch-screen menus. As for why it's on the DS, Nintendo probably wanted something high-profile from Square-Enix to help sell their new handheld. And I think the last Final Fantasy to be re-released fits the criteria. Although I'm not sure why Square-Enix waited this long and didn't release it on the PlayStation like every other game.
who knows... i really dont like the DS.. but since i dont even have a GBAsp yet i might as well just get the DS...
supposedly because III wasn't so great...who know, Sony might of been the one who said NO to that too...seeing that they stop a lot of title...a lot
Well since FFIII(DS) will almost certainly be released in both North America and Japan, Square-Enix might alter the original game to give its Japanese customers a new reason to buy the game.
