The furries don't even like this, the VFX artists have somehow bent the anthropomorphic scale into a triangle where these are simultaneously too human and too cat.

Looks dull. I'm not a broadway fan and this trailer showed no plot at all. Pass for me.

As for cats the only thing I saw on them as a kid was the "Bad boys" 80s video. Lol.

Feline human-looking creatures that's been the plan along for big box office results.
    Thanks for the background info.

Looking on twitter, and not even the furries want anything to do with this. That's... quite impressive, really.

Are you kidding? It’s not the quality of the CG, it’s what they are that’s creepy. The half human half cat designs are beyond unsettling, and I honestly can’t believe any studio looked at these uncanny things and thought “that’s gonna put asses in seats!”

They’re just... unsettling to look at.

There's not really any plot to show. All of the plot of the musical could fit into the trailer with time left over, and you still wouldn't notice there was any. It's people-as-cats, dancing and singing about cats. That's literally the whole concept.

Would be interesting if this movie was the thing that finally made them realize they are the monsters, in a Robert Neville sort of way...

Was this film made with that new face app, or deep fakes program?

I know I'm going to be that extremely odd guy but somehow I don't find the effects here horrifying. Surreal and a little off sure but not something that'll haunt my nightmares. Not sure why but all the same not the most scary CGI effects I've seen intentional or not.

I don't like them per se, but I don't think they're any worse than the "live action" Cat in the Hat movie. The bulk of the "uncanny valley" effect is in the compositing of slightly modified human faces onto the CGI bodies, and these look remarkably like the Mike Myers movie in that respect.

People complained about that one too, but I don't think it was with nearly as much deep revulsion as now. I suspect the difference is that several of the actors this time would be considered "hot" and their CGI bodies are more defined. This ads a layer of mild sexualization on top of the uncanney valley effect that's already there, making people even more uncomfortable.

Personally, it's not what I would've gone for, but it doesn't bother me any more than The Cat in the Hat or Alita, and I don't hate it like I did the Hollywood Sonic design.

Was watching Double Toasted. Found out Steven Spielberg wanted to work on this movie. He wasn't able to of course but he did have concept art.

For those that do know the play, I was amused to find out that the Heaviside Layer is an actual thing. It's the part of the ionosphere responsible for reflecting radio waves back to Earth. So in Cats, the Jellicles basically... bounce someone off the ionosphere once a year to reincarnate them. :p

I'm still sad that this version never got made. I'm not bothered by the movie trailer (much), but I would much rather have had something like this.
