Hello guys. A question. I know of some figures that ahve some chrome fading problems like Car Robots Gigatron/DevilGigatron or his US Vertion RID MEgatron/Galvatron. Most of my friends got the chest with no chrome apprently without reason.

Do you know any other figures with a similar problem?

    Thanks!

I think you mean chrome chipping? Never heard of it fading.

If it is chipping you're talking about, it sporadically happens with Transmetals and Transmetals 2. Although people every so often blame certain molds of being particularly bad about it, it has more to do with the amount of play it gets and the environment. But on the other hand, I do recall plenty of complaints over Rattrap in particular. Take that how you will.

But you do mean fading. Huh. Can't help you out then.

Thanks for the info but I do mean fading. Some of my friends have got the figures I mentioned previously (and we had the same case with RID OP).

In the case of RID Megatron the chrome simply dissapears from the chest. The figure was only on display or even inside the box.

Yeah, my MP prime has that problem too.. The chrome on the tips of the smokestacks and the 'fuel tanks' on both left and right legs seems fading... anyone knows how to prevent/fix this?

Happened to my alternator mirage's chrome rims too.

The only way is to not open the toy up at all.

    Moisture/humidity/air will screw it up.

One way is to clearcoat the thing right after you get it out of the box, should work.

You use a mat clear varnish, people use this to protect their painted miniatures when gaming. You can buy them at your local hobby shops, or shops that sell goods for painters.

Or gloss or satin varnish on the chrome... if you use matte varnish on the chrome you'll kill the chrome worse than it will fade.

You're right. I painted regular minis so I didn't use gloss. Better use satin,I think.

RiD Magnus's blue chrome often fades for no particular reason or fault of the owner.
