Nice Gerwalk mode! Other features like the more bulbous cockpit are obvious nods to Arcadia/Yamato's Valkyries. I'm still undecided on whether I'm gonna get this Starscream, especially if I'm most likely gonna leave him in jet mode. The underside is pretty clean, but I feel like this was already achieved with the first MP-03 (I'm a big fan of the F-15E). I'll wait for colored shots before deciding whether to sell off the ones I currently own.

    Hogwash. There is no "convention".

V2.5-2020-A.∞.π.etc is more ridiculous than V3, more confusing, and harder to research (search for).

Almost as ridiculous as releasing the same character over and over and over and over and over ... ad infinitum, ad nauseam.

Ultimately, the only thing that matters is how TakaraTomy officially references the figure, and they're calling it Ver 2.0. What you personally call it doesn't matter to anyone.

But methinks you just haven't paid much attention to how version numbers are typically used. Whatever comes after the decimal point tends to be pretty arbitrary, but the usage of the first number value is pretty universal. Gundam also follows the same numbering system, for a similar reference.

If only the scanned images were much larger. I'd love to see large hi-res images of the MP-Starscream V3

    Thanks!

I would also refer you to to this definition:

No, ultimately, it's up to anyone to define it as they wish, and you certainly don't get to state who it matters to, regardless of whether you agree with it or not.

You can do what you want, but there's only going to be one numbering system present on the box, and by which most retailers will list it under, for the sake of reference.

Good for them. As I'm not bothering to buy a third version of it, it doesn't really affect me, even if they numbered it via an arcane system of seashells and wheat husks.

I just want the head sculpt. I’m not a big fan of the split wings. Looks odd. Love how clean the back is, but the side profile is quite clunky.

I definitely don’t want to spend $1500 on seekers (6*$250 guesstimate price).

I feel like it should be possible to keep the wings closed, as long as you don't mind the tail fins not being hidden.

But that's certainly a consideration to be made regarding the pricing, lest you feel compelled to upgrade the whole Seeker suite.

Except it was called V2 by Takara and even this forum, which is a fact.

That was just us, though, because we didn't know any better at the time. MP-11 was never labelled "2.0" by TakaraTomy.

Should’ve been labelled “Version 1.5” instead.

Why are you pretending that fan colloquialisms are proof of anything?

Silly fans, eh? Calling the original toys "Generation 1", KO's as "3P" and making all manner of unofficial, nonsensical things up all the time.

It's a good thing nobody at Hasbro or Takara has ever taken a blind bit of notice of the fans and just stuck with only their own, official "in-house" terms and lore...

What's next; fans making up their own, made-up artwork of TFs and then getting a job at Hasbro or IDW and designing them officially?

That'll be the day, eh readers?

What kinda of deep-end, slippery slope crap are you talking about?

I'm just telling you why the version numbers are the way they are, in accordance to how the rest of the world applies a similar numbering scheme, because people keep asking. That has nothing to do with fanon or whatever. Starscream ver 2.0 is this toy's official designation. That's what will be printed on the box. Trying to assert any different will be demonstrably wrong.

I would like to point out that the thread here noting it as v3, which I started and then was later corrected to v2 when we learned that was the proper term for the new Masterpiece.

Since TakaraTomy considers it v2 and the earlier version as something between v1 and v2, we should refer to it as it's proper designation.

I can understand the confusion, but don't understand the need to fight endlessly about the fact. The manufacturer refers to it as v2, that's the correct designation.
