Nah I do too, and I tell you what: I would never post this because it's embarassing, but I made a FF7 video with the original game footage, a VHS player and the song "Major Tom" back in 1997. I still have the VHS. I think my videos have improved though. inFamousWMV.flv video by sindred_2006 - Photobucket
they didn't release the demo because X-box fanboys would all whine and moan "but what about us" and would probably start a riot!!!
Oh, I own SW on Bluray too. Keep in mind that every Final Fantasy is a different story with a different set of characters and sometimes set in very different eras. I took SW in such a way. I prefer AC, but I still enjoyed SW.
FFVII:AC fell into the same pit as that FF:tSW film. Eye candy? yes. good? no. If they had made FFVII's story into a movie instead of that New Age-y, ecovironmental-zen babble, your DVD/Blu-Ray shelf would have many more FF films on it. My arse went numb watching that '01 movie. I fell asleep during Advent Children. those movies fall into a category i call "Demo": I use em to show off my new TV or sound system and not much else. do i hate Advent Children? No. Just as someone else has said, not at the top of my list. Please send all flames, hate mail and bad g33k sp33k to: Jorod74 Here Teh Internetz
Actually, I think Spirits Within had a better script. However, having such life like characters animating in such a stiff way, it's hard to watch. Advent Children has vastly improved character movement and action scenes. The great thing is that both these movies were not made to appeal to everyone and sell as many seats as possible. I have to respect that to a degree, since it certainly can't be said about most any other animated movie. Three things bothered me most about AC: - the terrible emo baddies (particulalry their whiney dialogue, but they were great in fights) - Denzel. Who? What? Why should we care? The new version explains how he got involved but originally it didn't make sense and it just seemed like Cloud and Tifa's son. - Sephiroth coming back. Ok, I know it had to be done to truly cater to the FF7 fanboys, but I wish it was done in a better way where at least his suit, amor, and sword didn't also magically appear. Otherwise, I could watch it over and over for the visuals, fights, general FF7 atmosphere, and great remixes of the music.
Also explained better in Complete, with reworked dialogue forshadowing his return (at least, I don't remember the explanation being so blatant in the original cut, although I haven't seen it in a bit...), and there's a scene of the Turks' fight with Kadaj and Co in the Northern Crater, where you see that their costumes are formed in the same way that the Shadow Creepers are, such that Kadaj's outfit changing into Sephiroth's isn't so out of the blue. Also, Sephiroth's One-Winged Angel "super mode" was much welcomed, such that the wing's sudden appearance for his death wasn't so blatantly fanservice-y.
I actually have it too, but to say that its better than AC, for shame. On its own, Spirits within was good but just lacks the charisma that AC has. that and there was no huge sword
The only thing that bugged me about AC is that I spend over 100 hours with the characters of FF7 and I wanted at least 50% of this movie to include them all, not just the final scene. i know it made sense for the whole "reunion" element of the movie, but still. I wanted to see them talking, planning, poking fun at eachother, hell, even making comments relating to their times in the game, "Cloud, remember when you took Barret on the skyride!"
Just means that things are touched up a bit. You probably won't notice them unless you compared the cuts frame by frame. Although one of the most noticeable parts would be Cloud's Limit Break at the end (Cherry Blossom from FF Tactics, or so I'm told). In the original, his swords had golden auras. In Complete, they're blue.

Koji, get this shit! I just watched it. Silly me, I thought this was just an HD version of the movie. We just watched it, and I kept saying "wait, that wasn't in the....hold on, that makes more sense now, wait Zak!? What?" It was a pleasant surprise, and now there is no way I can watch the original. It's like watching the extended Lord of the Rings and not being able to go back to the original edit. If you liked AC before, prepare to like it even more.
