Its a bit hard to tell...as you said she has little references to work with...maybe if some better imagery pops up...

 

Contrary to what I reported before, I believe that I can make the eyes and faces separately. I recently got some new printer software and it seems to work. So, hopefully shapeways can handle this too.

Forgive me for painting the eyes poorly with a blue sharpie   This is just to demonstrate that it can work.

This is at deluxe size around the same as my Firestar-for-Swerve head that I showed in previous posts.

FYI, I ended up going for a normal ball joint and skipped all the screws and extra extra parts. I think this will make the QC overall better. Shapeways can't seem to handle teeny tiny eye holes for this model. But I might try again for a different head.

 

And ordered! I can't wait until you get the other noggins up on Shapeways! Now I need to find a Kup or Swerve!

I will look into doing something similar in the future.

I just enabled the Frosted Ultra Detail for the Firestar head since it seems that is the preferred material for heads based on what other shapeways designers do. You might want to get that one instead... Everything is sold at cost right now, so I'm not trying to make more money or anything. I just thought you might be happier with the head in Frosted Ultra Detail.

 

So awesome. The pictures don't do it justice. I am going to gather up a few supplies and get cracking on painting up a spare Kup that I have laying around. Once the custom is done I'll post more pics.

 

Cool! I'm glad they came out good. Definitely looks better than my test prints. Let me know what you think about how the parts fit, especially the ball joint sockets.

 

They fit amazingly well! The weapons fit snugly in the hands, but not tightly. Perfect fit, tight enough told hold but not so tight that paint is going to rub off from placing the weapons in the hands. The head went on with a satisfying *click!* and looks great. It is a bit wobbly, but I think that has more to do with variances in the print than your design. Once a layer or two of paint go on, I'm confident that it will snug up. Great work, I mean that! I can not wait to see more of the fembots go up on Shapeways. I'm currently painting a RID Windblade purple in anticipation of the Maxima head. More pics as the custom progresses.

Ok so that is one vote for Maxima next. Good idea to use the RID windblade. Personally, I like the RID Windblade better than the Generations one anyway and the RID one is easy to obtain right now. So I think that would be the best option for a Maxima custom. I guess I need to do a big honkin' blaster for her too...
