I loved the trailer for Fear the Walking Dead. I like how they focus on how the public is being shielded from what's really going on. It will be pretty interesting to see how much the government was involved, if they decide to go that route.

I'm wondering if Fear The Walking Dead deserves its own thread, or will we just discuss it here?

I think it needs it's own thread so we don't put spoilers for one or the other in case some people don't watch both or aren't up to current.

That's totally what I thought in the promos. I'm not watching the first few minutes though. I can wait another three days.

Yeah, I don't know what to think of it. Not very exciting for a premiere episode, and the clips for the future season didn't look that great either. I sure hope it gets better.

That's funny. I thought the exact same thing at the end when he was driving the truck.

I thought it was ok. I'm not hooked yet, but it's only six episodes, and it's bound to pick up fast. The only character I really like so far is the dad, and I thought Cliff Curtis did a good job playing him. I hope they improve on the kids in the future because they seem too rebellious and disconnected from their parents. I didn't care for the fake out scares. The one in the school was just pointless. I liked the "To Build a Fire" scene because it definitely relates well to The Walking Dead, and I love the short story. The camera work was pretty good too. I'm looking forward to the next episode despite my issues with this first one.

I didn't expect it to live up to the pilot for The Walking Dead. In my opinion, "Days Gone Bye" is one of the best pilot episodes of all time due to Andrew Lincoln's performance and Frank Darabont's directing.

It was massively boring. They spent too much time setting up characters, all of whom were dull. I'll give this show the benefit of he doubt, but they have to do better than this.

Yawn... only Cliff Curtis is making their character interesting.

Why doesn't FTWD have its own thread?

Anyways, i enjoyed it. Though i was hoping for more explanation of how it all started or patient zero. Maybe we will still get that in future episodes.
Also, i thought everyone carrying the virus (or whatever it is) was only later on in the apocalypse, but it seems like every one has the virus already right off the bat (at least already at the start of FTWD). And if everyone has the virus already you would think there would be much more incidences of zombies considering so many people die daily from natural deaths to accidents to murders.

The pilot was ok. Like others have said Travis is the only appealing character so far. But hey I'll admit the actress for Alicia is pretty damn hot. Well in my opinion.

I liked the pilot quite a bit. Nick and Travis are the only characters I like so far. But there is some clunky writing in there, and character actions are already off to a questionable start.
Why didn't Travis immediately call the police when he found the blood puddle which clearly had chunks of (admittedly unidentifiable) flesh? Because he didn't want to attach Nick to a potential crime scene?

Because his son would immediately be the suspect of a murder?

Honestly I thought they could have edited that 90 minutes down to 30 minutes and had a good zombie episode. The rest was filler.

The virus broke out and everyone caught it without knowing it, since it did little to nothing at the moment. That was probably the flu epidemic that was mentioned. Now everyone has it and if they die... zombie resurrection!

The guy that looks like Depp certainly gives new meaning to "what's eating Gilbert Grape?". That's who it looked like to me.

And yes, a little boring. I'll probably keep watching, but I don't think it gets a whole lot more exciting in this 6 episode season.

FYI, if there was a flu pandemic going around like in the show, schools would've been shut down by now. :lol
