Thanks to the BMB version, my official can dual wield fusion cannons.

And the BMB version is a sword carrier.

What I was playing with today:

    Legacy Evolution Shadowstriker

My most recent pick-up and one I enjoy a surprising amount after having passed on it for quite a while. It does have a slightly wonky build, but it has so many qualities that put it over for me: It isn’t accurate to the source, but actually takes me back to the days of Beast Wars where figures would come with different accessories from the show, have different kibble etc.—it isn’t an exact likeness for Cyberverse Shadowstriker, but it captures the vibe; I can hear the character’s voice coming out of this (not literally of course) easily. The smooth but chunky plastic used on this one also feels really good in hand, and the transformation is stupid simple while also having some fun and unexpected twists. It all results in a car mode that looks way better in person than in photos—I like it. This is in the upper half of figures I own for sure.
    IMG_1840.jpeg
    IMG_1843.jpeg IMG_1850.jpeg
(Ignore the bit of tape/glue residue from the accessories wrapping still on the roof.)

It ticks a lot of boxes for me. Also one of the rare moments in Legacy where it actually streamlines a mold it uses for inspiration rather than complicating it (owing to how infamously fiddly and overly complex Car Robots figures were). I genuinely like this so much that I may pick up Side Burn, a character I have no attachment to—but this is such a fun way to, IMO, improve on an original, and in a unique way (streamlining) for the line.

    But—But(!)

I really wish Legacy (and SS86 but I’ve stopped bothering with the line; wasn’t for me) figures would stop fighting me so often. I feel like 50 percent of the time there’s some major issue that prevents something from tabbing in or sitting cleanly that wouldn’t exist if there were just fewer tabs or more clearance. I don’t want to chalk this up to a QC issue, both because QC staff for sure aren’t paid enough to scrutinize figures this heavily, and also because it usually stems down to millimeter or submillimeter clearance issues in tabs and posts, which seems like an inevitable issue dealing with molded plastic, so just don’t design in specs that need to be manufactured that precisely.

In this case the fight was with the hood, where one side has a tab long enough to cause clearance issues whereas the other slides past.
    Bad:
    IMG_1848.jpeg
    Good (other side):
IMG_1849.jpeg I eventually got it after sanding the offending tab down a bit and applying a lot of force. It all sat flush after some further squeezing, but children and parents, if indeed any are buying the obviously older-skewing Legacy figures, shouldn’t have to go through that fight.

It really doesn’t even need tabs there. Or could at least have ones less dependent on such tight friction and corresponding specs that leave no room for error. Again, I don’t feel issues like this are QC ones, but design flaws (which invite genuinely inevitable QC errors by leaving too little room for error with imprecise materials). A major blemish on a figure I otherwise really like! Still a winner for me though, surprisingly enough.

EDIT—She made me want to pull out and transform Pointblank too. Two sci-fi cars I think pair well together and Legacy figures I really like, despite seemingly lukewarm fan reception. IMO issue above aside (it transforms smoothly now), both are really fun to handle and have great alt modes.

His transformation is super fun to flip back and forth. This guy and Airrazor are the reason im considering selling my kingdom beast wars figures.

Mainline Primal is great! IMO all four Maximals are fantastic. Primal and Cheetor are small mechanical improvements on their already good Kingdom engineering, Rhinox completely salvages his (making for maybe the most fun Rhinox toy?), and Airazor, the only one to use completely different engineering from her Kingdom version, with Studio Series using it instead, I’m on record as saying is the best birdformer ever made.

So I got four figures as a late birthday gift from my father. He got me both Reactivate 2 packs. I've enjoyed all of them so far, but Optimus and Bumblebee I think are my favorites. Prime's face reminds me of the Marvel G2 Prime. A large faceplate with smaller, more aggressive eyes.

I'm kind of viewing them as post-G2 versions. It also gives me a headcanon for Starscream's blue eyes, as this is after the Matrix tried to rewrite him into a good guy. Bumblebee, on the other hand, looks like what he would be if he had received the Matrix and become the next Prime IMO.

These Reactivate models are very interesting and well done, I hope that someday they release a pack that contains Megatron and Shockwave, or sell them separately. I see these models as an evolution of the new ones from the TF:One movie. Noneless, thanks for sharing bro.

It’s not a great figure - not from the knees down, anyway - and it’s not a character I even like, but I do seem to play with it a lot…
