Today’s favorite is a Pity Pick, since pretty much nobody will ever choose him as a favorite anything. Awkward robot, infuriating transformation, not terribly evocative of the character… But man oh man, did you get a LOT of toy for your $20 back then, and holy crap, that car mode. Alternators Wheeljack, ladies and gents. May we never speak of him again.

My "new" Cybertron Excellion today.

 

Infinitely better than SS86 Hot Rod, in my opinion.

 

Ehh, that really depends on what you want out of a figure. SS86 Hot Rod is a good-looking figure which has great posability and might be the best-looking mainline representation of Hot Rod we've gotten for a while (but in some aspects, he makes for a good figure but a mediorce toy for fun-playing), while Cybertron Excellion is like the exact opposite - Not exactly the most posable thing around and has some pretty goofy-looking proportions going on, but he has a sturdy build, the sculpting and attention to detail is very good, and he just feels very satisfying to play with as a toy and well worth the money.

In recent times (When I feel like buying TFs), I find myself been into a bit of an Unicron Trilogy rabbit hole, with me buying more of these vintage UT toys. They aren't for everyone but damn, as toys they're just a lot of fun.
